Yeah if you go barefoot more often than not, a little lotion goes a long way to keeping your feet from getting overdry, which causes the 'sandpaper skin' you're talking about. Callous is your body's defense mechanism, but dryness doesn't have to occur, if you keep your feet moisturized. It's even more important to ward off cracking and peeling, which can also occur and that's just painful. There are any number of skin lotions on the market targetted at the thicker skin that can form on your soles. But you won't lose your calousses, only more drastic measures (like exfoliation with a pumice stick) can really "get rid" of calloused skin, and even then it's usually only temporary.

Lotion will help keep your skin supple, more like tanned leather as opposed to sandpaper. :)

I go barefoot all the time. Every couple of days, I put lotion on my feet before I go to sleep. The stuff I use is called "Barefoot" made by "Freeman's"

It is excellent! you should try it.

I also found that if you put a good amount of lotion on, and then wear socks to bed, or atleast for a couple hours is you can't stand to wear socks too long, it helps even more. It traps the moisture in. Specially when the weather is very warm. It prevents evaporation.

Not to brag, but My feel look very nice, and they are really smooth, no cracks, or dry skin, and I owe it all to this product.

Hipkat, I think that sandpaper may actually be the solution to your problem! Well, either that or just a pumice stone. Go to Walmart or Target or something, and look in the foot-care aisle, and you will find any number of cheap little implements for use in smoothing the skin of the feet. Get a pumice stone, or one of the little handle-jobbies that have a flat rectangle of dark abrasive stuff, like the grip-footing that they put on sailboat decks. It works great! Some of them have two sides, one coarse and one fine. I don't have an overdrying problem or a callous problem, but I do keep these things on hand just in case.

ANY kind of dry skin lotion will do just fine. Lubriderm is a good one, since it comes in unscented if you don't care for that.

    Blue skies,
    -Jeffrey

OOH thanks... I would be kind of afraid of the a pumice stone... I like my calouses I just dont want my feet dry.
I will have to keep in mind that Lubriderm is unscented because im allergic to the scent in most lotions... the stuff that I found that worked to get rid of the really dry skin is called Natures Gate ; it has tea tree oil and is meant to treat really dry skin it works great!

    Thanks again,

    Kat
