ok, I know americans can be way over the top sometimes but at least they're passionate!
i was just replying to a hippy thread about whether or not the movement of the 60's will ever happen again
now i dont think it will
but if it did, i feel like it would never make it to aus anyway
people here just arnt passionate like the rest of the world i think its a shame
a lot of australians just dont seem to take stuff seriously

anyone agree? if not, maybe i need to be hanging around a different lot of peoples

your average aussie is more interested in his mortgage, at the moment all the chattering from the lower middle classes has become all the more subdued now that the man they voted in is about to give them a good thumping. if you want to get some passion from an australian talk to him about his investments be they shares or property that should give you a darn good response.

(Wow I haven't been on here for a while...)

Many people seem to me to be pretty conservative in this era (in some respects anyway) compared to say the 1930's, 50's, 60's and what not.
Australian people *can* seem to have their own laconic kind of laid-back way of living which in some cases can mean utter 'averageness' in my opinion.

Man you got to be joking! there's passion in abundance where im from in Melbourne.
Maybe littlemistymop your living in the suburbs in one of those nice happy new housing estates where people struggle with the so called Australian dream because they were brainwashed by the tv.
Get yourself into a culturally diverse part of any city where the the local government actually encourage art and a little free thought (theres not many), and you will find Passion all over the place!

Unless your into the sporty kind of passion, then its all around you.

alot of people confuse shouting and arguing with passion - i on the otherhand associate it with stress. i usually find myself drawn to passionate people because they have in their hands the very seed and essence of what it is to be a thinking and questioning being. being passionate might also be confused with having a mind that is set into old ways of thinking about the world - for me the passionate mind is the enquiring mind not the mind of dogma. i would say that in my experience the enquiring mind starts fading somewhere around 14,15,16 and whatever preconceptions you may have around those years eventually set like concrete. as i said before passion for your average joe resides only in real estate and shares, a mind immovable and rigid with no other way of seeing the world other than for personal benefit. of course the product of this mindset has been the chaos that naturally comes from this curious thinking, as an example the enviromental catastphophy about to break on our shores is as far from our minds as flying is for a whale. anyway i digress, i'm wandering into other territory, my feelings are if you are looking for passion you have to make it yourself!

Maybe the answer is finding out what you are passionate about.
