its just as fast if not faster than bit torrent, and MIRC servers tend to have faster connections than slow ass torrent servers.

mirc is for apps and games not music, i use dc++ for music.

This can go on forever...obviously we each are fine using our own methods of getting files and we have listed them for other users to determine which is best for them. Im going to end the argument by saying, your right.

Let me add that i dont see how a public leech community can beat a private dedicated seed community.

YEAU so i finaly reconfigured my router for eMule... and the outcome is good, eMule has download speeds based upon raking, Ranking for eMule is about how many people or super seeders have credits on there PC from you. it is actully pretty smart, it will keep people sharing pretty nice. It also depends on how many files you upload and such, i upload about 10 files so far and get about 15KB/s its not bad, i just let it sit on, and the next day i get the song i want. I dont have a problem with waiting. The advantage i find on eMule is that i can find just about anything. its nice i just deiscovered some nice stuff about eMule. STICK with eMule For sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AFTER, I defeat the Spyware, I get the BEST and MOST hits on BearShare.

    K-Lite really BLOWS these days.

Same here. I managed to get rid of all the spyware and Bearshare still runs. I have found most everything I have wanted with it,with the exception of some rare tracks.

P2P is a way of the past. Bittorrent is where it's at.

  12. bittorrent, whatever client, I've used ares, winmx, once used morpheus, not anymore though, when p2p was free and unafraid I used napster

K-Lite's decent, it's just hard to find sources for anything...Bearshare, Arez, Warez, Morpheus, Limewire (free version) are all bundled with spyware and won't get near MY machine.

Bittorrent's only popular at the moment because the RIAA's battling it; otherwise it's really only good for large files (movies, software, etc.)

FTP's been around since I was a youngin'...I remember bootlegging NASA rocket-designing CAD software worth about $3 mil when I was about 7 or 8...those were the days. :)

FTP's still my primary download medium, seconded by HTTP search (ESpew, Altavista, etc.), followed by P2P with Limewire Pro and K-Lite K++ Resurrection. There's also MP3 search software that skims Google and other search engines for MP3's, but it's slow and unreliable.

As for commercial MP3 services, I recommend Emusic.com, Napster or Rhapsody...ITunes uses a propietary format, so if you want to burn your music to disc or use on an MP3 player other than IPod...too bad. :p

On bittorent, on mIRC, on LimeWire Pro, I cannot!! find HeartBreak Ridge (A 1986 film w/ Clint Eastwood) But on Bittorent i came up with some hits, tried them, and download at a repetitive on and off 1kb/s! it sucks :( What is happening to the internet, slowley but surely our downloads seem like they are fading away from us! But any way, still looking for the best p2p software? And if anybody out there has found Heartbreak Ridge let me know! Man i wish i knew how to make a poll, Ill find out eventualy.

I have several songs that I cannot find on bearshare, rarely on emule, forget winmx, nor can I find any torrent files. I tried both songs and albums. BTW, emule pulls up more hits for the rare files I'm looking for than bearshare. I'll try soulseek as that hooks up to several p2p networks. Oddly enough, all of these rare songs are from Canadian artists ~~ HEY WORLD, YOU'RE MISSING OUT ON SOME GREAT CANADIAN ACTS!

So I installed dc++, and for setup I've added a folder for sharing, opened up some tcp and udp ports on my firewall although apparently I'm to initially use 'passive' connection settings, initially, I used active instead of passive. I open dc++ and click on public hubs and a bunch of them come up. But when I click on search, type madonna and hit enter, nothing happens. I've tried both passive and active connection settings, using the same ports for both tcp/udp that I opened on my firewall. But I still can't get any search results. What am I missing?

Bittorent is nice i have to say. I use Lime Wire Pro, Bittornado/torrent, Emule
I dont like on Bittorent how my IP is exposed though, sooner or later Media groups and orginazations will start to fund other orginazation to document IP adress's that are connected through bittorent, NOT GOOD. They will be paying your internet service provider off for your address...Next thing you know, law suite. Concidering were stealing :)
