how bad is it for you? im pretty much a health freak during the day. Sometimes (more often than not) at night i get really depressed and just binge on chocolate or toast or just anything if feel like to the point where i feel sick,.. never throw up but just wondering if anyone knows how bad this is for your body?
it's bad for ya cause once ure body gets used of u forcing ureself to vomit it starts to throw up automatically. i've been thinkin of fasting, so i can find some inspiration for artistic abilities.
i don't know how bad it is for you but i know a few tricks that might help you stop. i used to have difficulties with binging myself...if you feel like binging, write it out, it doesn't matter what you say, just be totally frank and honest with yourself, say what ever come to your mind....if you can uncover the triggers to getting depressed and binging, it will make it that much easier to deal with. also, if you drink big glasses of water or a relaxing herbal tea, it can help to fill your belly up and it will make you feel better for not binging. if you feel that you really must eat, because, hey! sometimes we need to, have a piece of fruit, carrot and celery sticks, raisins....something that requires a lot of chewing....and take time to enjoy the food, eating it mindfully. now, i'm not preaching, just letting you know of a few options that worked for me. so, best of luck to you....you can get through it!
I have a problem with binging as well. For me, it's when I am bored or sad. What I have found to be helpful ( apart from writing it out and distracting myself with making hemp jewelry or playing games) is to have a little of something...make sure it's something you want to eat. I also plan for feeling this way, and I often crave chocolate...so, I buy No Pudge Fudge Brownie mix and make tofu brownies. I can have ONE when I feel like binging and then I HAVE to go to something else.
These are all great suggestions. Another thing to consider is that binging can be used to your advantage. Some days when I don't have the motivation to workout, I'll binge on a big sloppy meal. Then I use that "shame" to force me to workout later, and twice as hard. Side note to joker: Cool! So I'm not the only one who's heard of that. You know it's been scientifically proven that fasting stimulates the verbal & artistic side of the brain. Of course, your math goes to hell, but you can use a calculator for that.
Hehe thanks guys..its just sad and bored thing for sure. if i try and have just a bit of chocolate thats when i go and eat the whole block!haha no control might try the big glass of water first, or writing down how i feel peace
I'm the same way sometimes, mistymop. And for the same reasons. What really bothers me is that I'll be fully aware of what I'm doing. I just need to stay busy.
yeah busy busy i hate being busy but i need to be to remain sain it sucks big time i know that im gonna regret it 5 minutes later too but i still do it!!
yes fasting is so awesome... binging - it depends, and probably is not healthy and apart of a balanced diet or life. say you go on a bluerberry binge or an organic grape binge, that is not really bad and your body would probably appreciate all the blueberries and antioxidants. or say you binge on ice cream , any kind-even soy or organic, that is not going to be appreciated by the body so much.
man i love to eat when i'm bored. or when i decide to quit smoking... it's like i replace it with an eating binge so then i find myself all confused and thinking, "Which one is more unhealthy: Binging or Smoking?" Maybe if we could replace eating with working out the world would be a skinnier place...
