So all the thrift stores had half price sales last weekend (for the holiday) and I found several chunks of cool paisley velveteen. I made this from one of them...the other fabric is a real dark brown velveteen...and the lining is all Linen! 3 bucks for enough fabric to make a hat & bag set.. with leftovers! YAAAY! ...soon to be the matching hat!
Yeah, most thrift stores have some fabric but I mostly look for clothes made from corduroy or velveteen ('cuz I like the texture as much as the color)...clothes usually have the fabric content listed on the label so I know the cord is all cotton...and velveteen is always cotton...and velvet is always synthetic. I like to use only natural fabrics and can usually find unusual ones that can't be found in expensive fabric stores. Plus, I'm supporting a business that benefits charities by recycling and I'm recycling it again!
