I think it's embarrassing to make a thread such as velvet's. She practically wrote a book...must really upset her. If you don't like what people are saying about someone's looks, post up your own opinion to balance it out. Either that or log off and go about your day.

 

I agree, a lot of the same, narcissistic people keep on posting millions of the same photographs of themselves just to get positive comments from the same people over and over and over and over again.
This really takes away the joy of viewing photographs here.

I suggest that the narcissistic people who keep posting and posting photographs of themselves just email their photographs to their little friends so they can receive their sucking-up comments in private.

right...because everyone puts soooo much stock in what other hipforumers say about them. Yep, after I get compliments, man I just start thinking I'm the most beautiful thing ever. Give me a break. I have no reason to think people are lying, nor any reason to believe them, so it's not that important either way. I would not be hurt if my posts got zero comments, because I know there are people in real life that do find me attractive. Plus I don't wear tie die, have dreads, or put pot in my pics so I probably don't fit in here as much as some. I've only put up pics here about 3 times recently, and one was a joke. I find it interesting that so many are willing to complain in this thread, but not willing to say something in the individual threads or mention specific names. Get some balls!

 

i like looking at the pictures because it helps you to visualize who you are talking to.
sometimes the compliments are sorta over the top, but what the hell. at least people are generally nice here.

No offense, but if you don't like seeing member photos in the member photos forum, then why are you here?

I'm not going to lie; if I get nice comments from posting my pictures, I feel good about it. And you know what? Sometimes, its nice to feel good. And isn't that the point of this site? To connect with like-minded people & feel good about it? I have to say I'm a little offended by your comments.

To be completely honest, I enjoy coming to this forum & putting a face to a username. I like seeing people's pictures & if I like a specific picture, I'll make a comment. If I have nothing nice to say, then I won't say anything at all. You should do the same.

I'm not embarrased. I think it's good that people here have come to think of why and what they reply as comment on pictures. Maybe I'm playing the devil's advocate here, maybe not. But what's wrong with being sceptical every now and then? It didn't upset me, I was just wondering if I was the only one noticing the pattern here. I'm not low on selfesteem or whatever either, however, when I'm down sometimes I do make use of the great vibe of the Hipforums by telling me story somewhere.. it usually gets good advice and lots of hugs Oh.. and if I know someone pretty good/long (like Mono), then eventually I like a face to go with the name.. and people like that get my pic as well (thanks btw for the ones who'd pm'ed me for a pic, but I liked to get to know you a little bit better first if you don't mind! )

Soo.. maybe all the offended people should walk away from my soapbox? 'Cause all I did here was be critical.. I didn't attack anyone personal, I didn't say everyone should stop posting pictures or nice comments.. the only thing I pointed out was the pattern I noticed. That's all. Sorry though, if I offended anyone.

The same can be said in other forums....those "appreciation" threads or the threads where everyone starts flirting with their "little friends", those exchanges can also be accomplished via pm or email. But alas, this is a forum, this is what people do.
This thread is no less ridiculous than threads people make about people having too high a post count.
I agree w/you on one point, that people should excersise courtesy by not posting too often in here, so others get a chance to be seen. I hope I don't post too frequently, but I guess it's a judgement call.

Alright, time for my unimportant opinion.

First off, before I forget....Those of you who say that there are narcossistic people on this website who post the same kinds of pictures and are seeking attention, well, why the hell don't you have the balls to put up a list of the people you consider "narcossistic"???!??!? Hmmmmm?! What, won't do it? Why are people so perturbed about folks posting pictures in the "member photos" section? I just don't understand this... Alright, did you happen to notice just how many people actually USE this site? Well, consider that number then look at the number of people who comment on the pictures. Quite a difference, no?

THAN, there is the point ya'll made about people saying the same "oohs and ahhs" for everyone.....Not true. There are a few people who criticize instead of comment (though I think that is rather uncalled for). AND, I know, in my case, I don't post a comment unless I have something kind to say about their looks or about something relevant to the picture. Just because we aren't all running around posting negative comments doesn't mean that we don't find some people unnattractive in a purely physical sense. Don't you see that this is a sanctuary for beauty, kindness, and caring for those who aren't shown kindness where they are located? Let people have their emotional uppers for the day. That's what this place is all about. Sorry if I contradicted myself in anyway and if you have any anti-comment to my post, than let me know. I'll explain myself. Otherwise.....fuck off if you want to see people posting negative comments about others. Fuck you. THERE....THERE IS NEGATIVITY AND YOU WANTED IT!!!!!
