I would kind of like to hitch along my Canada country and was wondering if any had some advice on how to keep myslef fed under the vegan guidelines (in the cheap style any hitchhiker would be looking for). Any general cross country backpacking/hitchhiking knowlage would be cool to.

    thanks Peace

Sounds like it'll be a blast, MelloP. I did the Via Rail from Quebec to BC, and here's what I took:

    1 bag of raw oats
1kg bag of peanuts or almonds, etc
bag o raisins or dates (something sweet)
whatever fresh fruit is available at each stop (usually apples or pears)

Cut up the fruit & mix it all in a bowl. It's cheap, it's not messy, it's healthy, and it's lightweight. Tastes awesome, too, like a granola bar but not all processed & fatty crap. By the time we got to Edmonton, a bunch of other people were doing it, too. Good luck man!

have a great time on your journey mellow!
that's a super idea spaceduck! i'm going to have to try it when my hun and i go camping this summer.
another thing you might consider mellow, is a container of soymilk powder. add a bit to a water bottle give it a good shake and...voila! soymilk for you're granola!
it's not as good as real soymilk but it's nutritious. :D

I think it was like 5 days going west, then a week in Vancouver, then 7 days coming back on the US side. I kept the same diet the whole time, except in Vancouver I couldn't resist the sushi cucumber rolls with wasabi & eggplant tempura. [Spoken in Homer Simpson voice:] Mmmmmm... sushi cucumber rolls with wasabi & eggplant tempura...
