Here are my latest creations. I've been super busy the last month getting the garden ready, building a pen and house for my ducklings, and doing all sorts of orders for mending, hemming and patching. But now I have time for some fun sewing! Yay! :)

I made this for a friend's daughter, using the pillow case dress design.

A friend of mine gave me a ton of this light blue print fabric and only asked that I make her a panel skirt with some of it. I have a ton left over. :) The skirt may look short, but it falls just below her knees. The print fabric has little white flowers and red spots and I trimmed the pocket with cotton eyelet lace.

Here's the last pic. I made this out of an old caftan that I wore when I was pregnant. It's very simple, but I love the fabric. It's very light and airy...I think this will be my gardening skirt. :)

Way to go! I really like the last skirt; is that peacock feathers printed on it?

It's a funky batik design with abstract butterflies along the bottom. But yes, it does look like peacock feathers/paisley.

The things you made are very nice (I especially like the little red top), but I am so jealous that you have ducklings! I love ducks! My husband won't let me have any :(

What a meanie! :( They're super easy to care for and so entertaining. I watch them splash around for hours on end. I have 3 Indian Runner ducks; Daisy, Daffy & Donald. They're great egg layers...well the girls are anyway.lol

My dad keeps lots of poultry, ducks, geese, chickens, guinea fowl, you name it. I like them all. They really keep the bugs down and we could use that in FL! Do you eat the duck eggs? They were always a bit too strong for me to eat plain. We just used them for cooking.

Give me a few more years and I'll probably end up like your dad, with poultry everywhere! :) My dream is to have some pea fowl, they're so beautiful. I like duck eggs in omelettes and in baking. This is my first time raising poultry, and I have to wait a few more months before I'll get any eggs.

Those are nice...and I hear ya,about the gardening and stuff keeping you busy. It's so hot here though, that I wait til as late as possible to start my outside work,so I can sew a bit during the day if I want.

The month of May was crazy! This is our first spring on this land, so there was ALOT of work to be done. I dug up a 30'x30' garden all by myself, as well as help my hubby fence the garden and duck pen, build a greenhouse and duck house, started seeds, planted the garden and mended the surrounding fence on all 5 acres!
Now it's all done and I can sit back and relax a bit.....for awhile.... the fence needs mending again....darn cows.

Wow,it sounds nice. It's hard work running a homestead though,I know..but it's so worth it. I take care of about 2 acres of garden and it keeps me pretty busy. I wouldn't mind having a bunch of critters though, besides my cats and dogs.
