I had never heard of this movie until I caught it on IFC a few months ago and it's now one of my favorite movies. I was curious if anyone else has seen it and what your thoughts on it were
I saw it a few years ago and have been wanting to rent it again so my husband can see it. Slightly depressing but very good movie (what I remember of it anyway). I love Billy Crudup and any movie that he's in.
I own Jesus' Son and watch it regularly. It is funny and sweet and depressing, but I always feel so good after seeing it. The ending is so beautiful, it really gives me a lot of hope, as cheesy as that may be.
I've read and own the book by Denis Johnson, but I had no idea it was adapted for a film. I should check that out.
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Movies never seem to represent books very well, though, from my experience.
There is a lot of drug use in the movie but its mainly about a guy who's life always seems to turn to shit, which can make it depressing at times but theres a lot of humor in there as well. The scenes with Jack Black especially had me going for a while.
Yeah, I know everyone was on drugs but I really never saw that as the subject of the movie. Like Jack Black says, the guy's name is Fuckhead and everything he touches turns to shit, and it's the main thing that came across to me. That, and fixing it.
