I have a young adult male chinese water dragon, named Bug, and a Darkling Beetle named Ringo that's the result of a king worm escaping in Bug's tank. The beetle survived only because poor Bug is temporarily *crosses fingers* blind due to shedding complications, and can't hunt, has to be hand fed. and I'm getting an Emperor Scorpion eventually.
I am owned by a leopard gecko, and a bearded dragon. they are both herps. I also have fishies.. I hope to get a Hog island boa too..
fire bellie newt - hes great! He learned early on to eat from my hand, and is a very cool little guy. Plus they have a life span waaay beyond what one would think. I've had this one over nine years. We have had them escape before, and it would seem to be a real leap of faith for a newt. I mean, how do they even know there is anything out there to escape to?
i have leppard gecco, and lots of fishes. i really want some kind of snake as well but dont know what one
I had a ball python, and fell in love with her right away. I was amazed at how much personality she had, and she gave me a deep appreciation of snakes as individuals. If you havent had one, they are great to start with, and super if you want a snake that you can actually handle. One friend of mine had a corn snake, but it was a bit small to hang out with. I knew someone with a kingsnake that was supposedly mean, but it made friends with a little girl, and lived happily ever after. Sometimes its just a matter of meeting the right snake! The biggest drag for me about snake owning was going to a pet store and getting the food! Parents would occasionally glare at me, knowing why I was after a live mouse, but hey - snakes gotta eat too! I felt worse for the mouse, me coming in and being the executioner has philosophical concepts every snake owner has to come to terms with. I had a running debate with a friend over feeding. She felt it was better to kill the prey for the snake, and let the snake have it immediately after. I felt the snake was a more efficient killer than I would be, and dropped my snake a live mouse, preferring to let the snake do the natural thing. Not that either is wrong, but there seem to be two camps on the concept. Its not like purina makes "snake chow" or anything! I never pictured myself as a snake owner, barely a snake friendly person, but once I got to know one it really changed my opinions on snakes, and reptiles in general.
