Is there a point to this thread? America is so fat because most of us don't bother to excersize. I consume animal all the time, and I am thin and fit. Excersize makes all the difference. One million animals an hour... oh no! It keeps the ecosystem the way it is. If we don't eat them, then theres an ecological imbalence and you know what you're taught in school... that's not good! It would mean probable death for other animals as the competition for food increases.
trees, most animals eaten are raised for that. no market, no suppliers. Many animals cannot survive (reproduce, protect themselves from predators) without human input. Americans as a general group eat too much and move too little. in that number, I'd guess that is shrimp/crawfish to cattle? that's a lot of meals for 270 million people. Especially if you factor in 10 percent of the population as lacto-ovo or stricter veggies. (VRG study estimate)
meat makes a lot of fucks fat, though there are exceptions, i would say meat and the overly large number of animal products in the average american diet definatley plays a large part in americas obesity problem. fuck the trees, i have been readin gsome of your posts, and to an extent understand where your coming from and even agree with you, but a lot of times i find myself in strong disagreement with you. drumminmama is right, we RAISE the billions of animals we kill INHUMANELY every year, and raise cruelly, and wreck havock on the environment and even contribute to famine in the process. SO, if you are so worried about the human race, why is it i have not heard you once mention anything about the fact that so many people inefficiently use meat as a food source steals a LOT of perfectly good grain that could feed all of humanity easily. and why i have never heard anything about the fact that we feed over 80% of the grain we grow to livestock, and that it takes 100 gallons of water to make a pound of beef and 30 pounds of grain to make JUST one pound, when it takes a mere 15 gallons to make a pound of PERFECTLY edible food that is probably MUCH healthier than meat. the meat industry is not related at ALL to the ecosystem, except in the parts it has destroyed it and poisoned it with pollution around factory farms. i understand we should be concerned about humanity, but i also understand humanity is NOT the reason the world exists. i also understand that the fact that people are so concerned with themselves, is partially the reason there are so many problems in the world today. and if we continue to say fuck the trees, and not develop a sense of compassion for the world, the world in turn will eventually say, fuck humanity and we will destroy their life giving abilities, and that will be the end of us, just like that. humans are the only animals that have the opprotunity to develop a sense of compassion, and its so unfortunate to see so many people never experience this, but this is a blessing and a curse. and as you can see if you look, it is certainly reigning as a curse as we are drunk on power here on planet earth in what i think history(IF IT SURVIVES and evolves!) will look back on and call the dark ages, or an era of mass confusion and insanity. think about it, the world IS a very crazy place right now, just look around, and start questioning this reality, including the meat industry, and you will see, that the picture here on planet earth is not a very pretty one, not a very pretty one at all. but to say the world is meant for humanity and humanity is the end of evolution is to say you know why the universe exists. so tell me oh wise one why is the universe here? whats that beautiful moon hanging up in the sky for, so humanity can destroy all other life in its selfish pursuit of what, more greed and self absorbedness??? sorry, but that just does not make sense to me. to say you know humanity is the end result of this planet is almost to say you are god, which i am going to assume you are not. so many people though, do not come to this simple realization that they are NOT the reason the world is here, and the world is not ours to use and abuse as we please in the name of greed and misunderstanding. humanity can do a LOT better than that but we are just chosing not to because we are corrupt and plagued with desire and greed, pure and simple, that is what it comes down to. whenever you argue that you need to eat an animal, your argument is rooted in greed, and a strong misunderstanding of how easy it is NOT to eat another animal. veganism is evolution in my opinion, and if we survive we will all inevitably stop eating our obvious family on this planet or on a very rare occasion, that is what i think anyway. veganism can make the human heart strong, veganism can purify the body and consequently the mind to an extent, veganism provides with you with REAL LIFE energy, not cooked DEATH energy, not a slow energy absorbing rotting carcass, but beautiful plant living enzyme energy flowing easily through your body as it was meant to and giving you so much of an upper hand of the lethargic and drained and tired society we live in. i did not mean to come across as rude, i hope you take the messages i have attempted to convey in words though to heart tonight and seriously consider what i am trying to say, and maybe together we and whoever else who understands what i am saying can make a difference in humanities collective conciousness, and maybe we will be the ones responsible for saving humanity and the world ultimatley, from destroying itself, because that is not such a far fetched idea in this day and age.
I never said that "meat is the end of evolution" as I don't believe in evolution, but that's a topic for another day. The water argument is void, as water recycles itself naturally. ScreamingMisAnthrope... I am actually a smart person, you just believe me to be dumb because you don't agree with me. I recieved a 2040 on the new SAT's, so that proves it there.
So you're a junior in high school (new SAT administered to the class of 2006). FTT--and this is not intended as an insult--you may learn a few things in senior biology & anthropology class. Maybe you could admit that you don't know everything. Half a decade of college, and I'm still not sure I know all the facts, but that's what makes life so interesting, as long as you keep an open mind.
I'm sorry, I am not taking biology as a senior. I despise that class. I am taking more courses aimed at history and politics.
righrt right right on, such true word spaceduck, been reading some of your posts and you seem real cool i think EVERYONE should have a STRONG interest in the environment, and at least know the BASICS, as opposed to teaching and conditioning our children to eat meat and obey and subscribe to the bullshit school system and methods of life a bunch of fools with too much power created. and the water argument is very valid for ALL countries whos water sources are NOT as abundant and thousands of people die every day due to this fact, not having water to grow food and get by, they are struggling at the expense of OUR GREED! as opposed to say canada or america which has ton of fucking water it does not share it at all, which is a very possible fucking thing. the world is not ours to use and abuse as we please, which is just what the meat industry does, its GREED, its run on greed, the entire thing, not love, not one bit, maybe a SMALL number of organic farmers, but no matter how organic you make your cow it is NOT good for you!!!!! and your entire arugment seems to be run on GREED as well. think about it.
My argument is run on greed? Would care to explain how? I want to eat meat, so I do. If that's greedy, then you eating no meat is greedy, as you want to eat veggies.
I personally don't think you're greedy, i think you're rude this is the most decent post I've ever seen you write... keep it up and we won't give you shit. coming onto a forum that believes in treating the earth better and such, it's pretty offensive and rude to even choose a name such as "Fuck the trees' and you know you did that just to piss people off. dont be upset when we start lashing back at you, its all well earned.
Apples+Oranjes, I guess that post made me sound upset. I was in no way upset. I come on these boards to learn opposing views and arguments. Good for the education. Me and some friends found the name funny, and it doesn't matter whether you are offended or not. People get offended in life, you can't complain every time you become offended. It doesn't teach you how to take care of yourself.
I'm not just speaking for me.. I'm saying maybe the reason people keep saying shit like that to you is because you can be very offensive. That's all. Honestly you don't offend me... the posts most people complain about, I just laugh... in the selected posts that they snap at you for make you sound rather childish.
Fair enough. But Apples+Oranges has a great point. The screen name you've chosen hardly makes you sound like an intellectual worthy of respect. Just for laughs, why not re-register as something less rednecky? Thanks man. But really, I just type what my dog tells me.
