Because the table, the ant, and the sugar are all in the past tense idicating that they no longer exist.

Whereas the question is in the present tense.

    lol smart man,

    but no!
I can back my answer up by saying
Actually I have a problem with my tenses, English is not my first language, I think i have to take esl again.

Try again! , this is a perfect messed up puzzle, the answer is simple, you just have to not try to figure it out.

The ant doesn't want to crawl towards the sugar?

    OR

The ant is on one of the legs of the table, whereas the sugar is on the top.

    OR

The sugar is in the ant, the ant already haven eaten it.

This bloke reminds me of my sister playing I spy when she was little. She used to keep waiting until she heard a guess that sounded good to her.

The Ant's not crawling because it's running?

The Ant's not got any fucking legs?

Or, it's a black table, the sun is beating down and heating it up and so the ant prioritises finding some shade over getting to the sugar?

  15. ant is on the bottom of the table while the sugar is on the top they are obverse and reverse eachother respectivly, they are so close and yet so far...... perhaps the table is even covered in sugar and there is sugar sugar everywhere, but not a crystal to eat......

I suck at riddles and I'm wrong but Wtf, I needed those allusions here........

Anyway, I can't see what could possibly be more lateral an answer than the ant already being at the sugar and so not needing to crawl any further.

Maybe there's something in between the ant and the sugar.

Coz what actually looks like sugar to the ant, is cocaine, and accidentally the ant breathed in a line and is too fucked up to walk.
