    Hi people!

Just stumbled upon this forum while searching for ways to wash 'em. Anyhoo I thought I join just incase I had some secret dread information to share with the world.

Seeing as this is my first post I thought I'd introduce my dreads :)

Urm well my actual hair pre-dreading was about 60cms long which is about 5ish years constant growth. Had them done on the 3rd June so they would be about 2 days old now. The dreading process took about 3 1/2 hours to finish to a cost of 50 UK pounds. Urm I'm really happy with them but there's loads of loose hair :(.

Whoops anyhoo just thought I'd say hello.

I think your hair looks relaly good. I have tons of loose hairs so far on my head, I prefer it. I have seen others who eventually cut those loose hairs down but I don't think it will be a problem at all.

    That is good times.

Loose hairs add personality. I dig the natural thing. Perfect dreads are no fun.

    Hehe...they look like twigs...:)

You got them done in a salon or something? They look really tight for being only a few days old and for being done "professionally."

Anyway, stick around...thanks for sharing the pic...:)

i also have loose hair everywhere that i was worried would keep on increasing as time moved on. but from reading post from all different people it sounds like eventually the loose hairs find a home. i have tried to make itltle dread balls with the loose hair and push them into the closest dread, but that only seemed to disturb the other dreads. so now i just let the loose hairs fly and i am going to spray sea salt and water mixture on my head all summer, if i cannot make it to the beach at least once a week for a good washing. by the way i have only had my dreads for 7-8 months now.

they look mad tight for being a couple of days old.

    best of luck ryan

Not only do they feel like twigs, they feel like twigs. They were done in a salon by back-combing and latex is used to hold them in place. They felt really stiff at first but now they're getting a bit more flexability.

    Thanks for the feedback guys!

Latex? as in liquid latex they use for special effects? i've never heard of using that for dreading before. Doesnt it just turn like plastic when it dries? I cant imagnie that would ever wash out. Sounds very odd to me :S. But i do have to admit they are looking very impressive for 2 days old.

They look good for 2 days old but latex will go mouldy... i warn you.

I hate it when salons and people use products to create dreads... the people making them know nothing of what they are doing... its all about money :(

Yea I was wondering when he said latex. I would think that would be harsh on your hair and turn moldly after awhile...

I'm not to sure about whole latex situation, blame myself for ignorance but anyhoo. So far I've been leaving small pieces of latex and powered latex everywhere I go. So it's a good thing that its falling out. I wasn't told about any problems with mould when I did have them so I'm feeling abit cheated. Is there anyway around these mouldy problems except for a haircut or just should I just let whatever happen happen?
