I am an ametuer grower who has been studying this wonderful plant continuiously for about a year now. I have learned most all of her needs, thoughts and feelings. I'm passonite about what I do and take it rather seriously. I'm trying to start a new thred because I couldnt find anything on my fellow Alaskans and they;re knowledge as to where they have failed and succeeded in their quest for eternal bliss. This summer I have made plans to grow several varties in various mountain locations, in which can only be accessed by an experiecned climber/hiker. If all goes well, I'll be keeping my progress updated. I've got a blueberry/indica type varitie thats got this crazy smell and taste thats a natural gentic making it taste fruity similar to a blueberry taste, a few giant sativas which i grew in my hosue surprsingly lol this last winter, they got huge i'll post pics later. I've got some Tai, and white window etc. I've never grown outdoors before, and have been brainging storming like mad the last few weeks. I cant even sleep at night I get so excited! I'm struggleing with conflicting ideas as to a perfect number for the patches, as I'm mostly using seeds and I figure half are going to be male, then a small percentage lost to the elements, and I figure that at the absolute least, each plant yeilds a quater in bad conditions, so I grow an amount according those standards and what I expect in return in the way of pounds. So far so good, I've got all my supplys and compost and cured manurer from a local friends who maight know a thing or to about growing lol. The first 30 plants or so I'm getting ready for have been trained to lay horizonally resulting in a massive bush, I then plan to have a 6ft diamtere 4ft deep for these bushes to grow. Now Im just gonna take a stab at it, but I think if Im lucky Im gonna get like a 1lb at least of that mess. Well any thoughts or questions please contct me or post. -Alaskan_grown
wait..you want to grow outside during the alaskan summer? the summer in alaska has to much light to grow outside........u need 18 hours of light per day for veg and wen u switch to budding stage u bring the light cycle to 12 hours per day.....in alaska dont u get like 23 hours of light during the summer?
They should grow fast and furious under 20-24 hrs of sunshine, getting them to flower and finish before frost will be the problem. 12/12 is strictly referrence for ID growers. Plants flower long beore 12/12 is reached OD. When light hours are cut back to 12/12(indoors) or hours begins to deminish(outdoors) the plant begins producing a hormone, when this hormone reaches a critical level, they start to flower. Once flowering is initialized, 6-8 weeks untill harvest.
Heres a link to the regular page I started this ones different I think. http://hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92797 Anyhow.ALthough true that we recieve almsot 24 hours of light, it is quite possible to grow monster buds up here. lol Some say its in the water, some believe its the magic of the mountains lol. Either way though, yeah you start your plants indoors under 4 sets of 8ft long shoplights until there deeply rooted. Use a deep pot so there roots have a stronger system to help withstand the angry winds, and I usually run them somthing like 18 on 6 off or whatever. I have a digital timer to assit me so its always the correct photoperiods. Then when there about 15inch tall or whatever do whatever it is u do and then take them outside during the approiate time. Some believe this is mid July so that they only grow for about a month or so vegatively, then around august-late Semptember, this is when U ahve to keep an ear to the ground and an eye in the sky becasue this is ar most toublesome months of harvest. Its getting dark like 8-9pm and its the rainy season for us Alaskans. Beware of tracking foot prtins etc. to the site. Watch weather reports and so forth. But I assure u that theres plenty of time for those buds if ur willing to work for it lol.
So I have finally choosen a site well suited for an outdoor grow. I have started by digging up the ground in a 5ft diameter and 4 ft deep circle. THese holes will be used for each plant as I am planning to grow some bushes. Although I should have done this last fall, so that the ground could be better prepared for this summer, I think with a little extra care itll be fine. SO then Im going to fill in the ground with my soil mix, which consist of moslty "BLack GOLd" excellant soil I must add, lime compost and topsoil mix, and aged munuar, vermiculite "holds water and nutrients", perlite and gravel "loosens" and a little bit of slow release fertiliser. First though Im going to fill the hole with a fare amount of mulch for insist old lawn grass from the lawn mower etc. THis will give my plants alittle extra pretection and warmth. Then after we transplant them to the site, we want to place a nicelayer of mulch "leaves grass rocks" around the plant to help retain mosture and attract it. This will also help agianst weathering. Then place a few of Jobes slow realease fert. sticks around the area and water the ground around the plant with a decent transplant mix, perhaps a little 3% hyrdogen peroixed as well. Then Im going to have milk juggs filled with a mild fert mix and poke a small hole towards the bottom this will help keep the area watered at least a little during extremem temperatures, but I'll be checking it regulary. Keep in mind these holes are small so it works more as like a drip system. If your familuar with it, there might be room with a WICK system. In a sense it works like hydroponics in the wild. Its ispecailly great if u have a near by stream below u. It'll use capilary action to draw the water up into the pots. Anyways, I've had enough excitement for today, so ultimately I decided Im going to grow a few bushes and the rest will be in like a cubis foot of and area. Peace, Pot, and Microdot!
ok bro im origonaly from alaska and u are gunna have one hell of a time growing pot out doors that fact that the season is only 3 months long wiol mean the plants wont have proper time to mature and ull propbly end up with very low quwality bud or no bud at all
