does anyone else think that consertvatives have such a tight grip on the media that they only let attention be brought to the liberal/democrats that will seem to give us a bad/worse name? i may seem like a conspirator but i think it might be true.

Ok, really, it doesn't take to much watching to see that most major media sources are liberal leaning.

The main thing to realize is that republicans and democrats are two masks on the same face. Far enough up, they're both controlled by the same people. The opposing sides are an illusion that the Illuminati have in play everywhere. It serves to keep people divided. What you really have to do is realize that all the petty differences people have are mostly manufactured, and just to come together and be as one.

any news outlet that whines about a liberal bias should automatically be discredited as a serious news source by the american people. wtf news are you watching, madcapsyd?

I think another issue at hand is what passes for "news" in our news media. Is the Michael Jackson trial really news when folks are dying in Iraq for Halliburton, when folks are dying in Africa of aids for lack of medicine (lack of cash really, there's plenty of medicine to go around.)etc etc etc. The fact that a vast majority of American news outlets are owned by a small number of conglomerates has alot to do with the quality of non-news infotainment gargage we are forcefed daily. And as for the original question here, yes there is a bizarre problem of right-wing media outlets whining about a non-existant left leaning bias. These people call the truth a left wing bias and bullshit "fair and balanced".

There are 3 major cable news networks. CNN is a bland and unopinionated waste of time. MSNBC is okay, a little from each side. FOX news is blatently rightist.

So to say that liberals dominate television media is absurd. Even the rightists that complain endlessly about this liberal bias realize that. When they are talking about the liberal media they are talking chiefly about the major newspapers in the US, i.e. New York Times, LA Times....

However, as usual, it is all bullshit to try and discredit ANY criticism. It is ALL about repetition. What did you hear prior to the 2000/2004 presidential elections? a contiguous persistance of the Bush administration's bullshit. Same situation here, bitch about the Liberal Media, and soon enough the FOXnews-style thinkers will believe it and absolutely no criticism coming the other side is credible.

I never said, but it doesn't take much reading to see the media tends to have a liberal bias.

It doesn't matter to which "side" a mainstream medium leans. What matters is that virtually every mainstream medium (at least in the TV world) is pro-America, pro-War on Terror, pro-Homeland Security, and pro-American foreign policy in general. You get a really skewed view of the world when your exposure stops at CNN.

Plus, these news outlets never connect the dots. They report on isolated news snippets but never show you the whole picture. That is the real danger.

The U.S. has gone so far to the right that even things that are mildly conservative are perceived as being very liberal, especially by young people. It's too bad we can't take the younger crowd back to the 60s and 70s to see what liberal was really like. They would be shocked.

I'll agree there. I'm sure that most Americans today would perceive a perfectly balanced program to be "liberal."

I think one of the biggest reasons for this is that when any news outlet reports on something that isn't too good for the president's image, people think it's because the network is liberal. Really, that makes no sense, but try telling that to Bill O'Reilly's fan base.

There's no conspiracy, the liberals/democrats are doing a fine job of it themselves. Not that the republicans are much better. There is essentially no difference, and anyone who thinks there's hope in either party is deluded. Two parties are only one more than a dictatorship. Two parties have effectively marginalized anything beyond "middle of the road status quo" which both parties fight tooth and nail to support. Look at the last "election". Any doubt as to who the mass media wanted to get in? It goes in cycles, though. Pretty soon the republicans will be looking like jackasses again, and there will be a democrat in the white house. I'm not saying it's rigged, but... let's just say they are two sides of the same coin.
