drilling glass?

    Hey um my dad his this hole drilling thing...one time he drilled in a hole on some seashells so i could make earrings out of em..but uh..do u think that driller can drill a hole thru glass or what? cuz i wanted 2 make this like bong outta some glass bottle..uhh ya so just wondering? thanks!

    you can buy drill bits are your local hardware store that are for drilling through glass.... they're not really expensive either... i think i paid like $2-3 for one

    Yeah, I believe you'd use a diamond tipped bit.

    hmm..very intresting. diamond tip ay? so u can jus make the whole any size u want? haha im like scared i wud drill a hole in the bottle and the whole thing would break! but i guess that wont happen, i think anyways. thanks tho!

    I tried useing a wood drill bit, it took me like 4 hours, then broke when I tried to widen the hole.

    oh pff....that doesnt sounds good...haha that SUCKS. but will a diamond bit work for sure? i dont wanna like waste my time! im scared :( haha.

    Yes, a diamond bit will definitely work. So will a tungsten carbide bit. Sold for drilling ceramic tile.

    You need to buy a bit for the specific hole diameter you want to make. Trying to wiggle the bit around to ream out a small hole will usually break both the bit and the workpiece.

    diamond bit, painters tape, tape the spot where you want to drill so it doesnt walk, and drill nice and slow and not to much pressure

    I think ima go to one of them antique stores and look for something glass to drill know lol.

    yea i drilled a hole in one of my glass pieces with a Black and Decker tungsten carbide bit it took about 20-30min to do.. just because i went slow as hell... so to make sure that i didnt break the pipe... also make sure you drill at a slow speed.. the faster you drill the more likely you might lose control of the bit and chip or break the glass

    A Dremel tool and a small grinding stone works, too.

    Have a bottle of water (or better coolant) at hand to keep the temperature of the glass down and prevent cracking
