start > run > cmd, Wont work. Why?

When i click start, then click run, then type in 'cmd' and hit enter, i get this
error window that pops up saying:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.com
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS
and Microsot Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.


If someone can help me with this problem i would highly appriciate all support, and

what version of windows are ya running?

does start run 'command' work?

 

should be cmd.exe....

Looks like you have a trojan/virus. I've seen this one. You may have ping.com, tracert.com, etc. Delete those files, leave the tracert.exe, ping.exe, cmd.exe.

That should fix your problem.

i followed those steps and still nothing

 

Do a search for cmd.com, in the search options, choose to search for hidden files. Once you find that file, delete it then try running cmd.
