Has anyone ever read Zen and The Art of Motorcycle Maintenence? I read it last year, and it changed my life. Robert Pirsig is an absolute genius! The calm, reflective nature of the book combined with an intense inquiry into the meaning of "Quality" make this a truly profound book. Since than, I have begun to study Buddhism and have gained a greater respect for all the beauty this country contains. I recently finished On The Road,a book that is discussed very often on this forum. In comparison, Zen is like a more mature version of On The Road, emphasizing the need to discover where your going in life, not just experiencing life. I reccomend this book to anybody searching for a sense of meaning in their lives.
am reading this ... have been for almost year and a half. not that i dont want to read it i cant just sit down and read it. i definitely dont agree with all of it. i edited the book.
i finally finished it the other week. the end was kind of strange. i went back an understood the other parts more and un edited it in my head but my scratch marks still exist in ink.
