okay, you start with a riddle, who answers it correctly gets to wrtie the next and so on.
    okay...ill start..

theres a really tall building with no windows and a light at the top.
there are three lightswitches and the bottom of the buidling that turn the light on.
You can only go up and check the light ONCE.
How do you find out which of the three lightswitches turn the light at the top on??
    have fun:p

Oh oh oh......is the light on the out side of the building to begin with??if so...look up....or....you could do this....go up the stairs and place a series of mirrors to the light from top to bottom...and then go and flick the switchs...and see what does what.....yeah.....i rule..:)..my thank can me PMed to me

  4. how quickly can you get to the top?

cause if it's instantaneous you can use heat off the bulb....

  5. lets follow my path shall we?

turn on switch 1..... leave it on for a bit......
    turn off switch one
turn on switch 2..... leave it on for a bit.....
    turn off switch two
turn on three and get to the top of building

if the bulb is on it's 3
    if it's warm it's 2
    if it's cold it's 1
essentially the fiddling w\ switch 1 wasn't required..... just for giggles......

not quite. If you've turned two switches on and turned them off again then you won't know which one lit the bulb if it's warm.

You want to turn on just ONE switch, and leave it on for a bit, then turn it off, turn on the second switch and LEAVE IT ON then go straight into the room without waiting.

Then if it's on it's the switch you left on. If it's off and warm it's the switch you turned on first, and if it's off and cold it's the switch you haven't touched yet.

  7. switch 1 cools while switch 2 is active......

notice the last line of my post

You can't be sure if it will or not though, as you wouldn't have been able to go into the room to see what sort of bulb it is. And why take the risk?

Anyway, let's have another. :) You've got two pieces of rope. They're not identical though, and they're not uniform. All you know is it takes exactly one hour to burn each piece of rope. By burning the ropes, how do you measure a period of 45 minutes?

  10. because it's fun, and I know lights...... I know that it takes 6 minutes for a par64 to cool, 4 for a par 56..... I'd leave the second switch on for ten minutes, if when I touched the light I got second degree burns, it's light 2 if not it's light 1

    I know my lights......

allright so here's the deal as i see it... if you light the first rope at both ends then it should burn all the way through in 30 min.... so you light the second rope at one end at the same time so that when the first rope is done the second rope is half done... then you light the other end of the second rope so it's burning at both ends which should take 15 more minutes right??? 45 minutes total

all of my daughters are blond...except 2
all of my daughters are brunette...except2
all of my daughters are redheaded... except 2

how many daughters do i have?

    Robert

    This is fun

    Here's one.
Edit: I like this one better.

There is a yacht out in the ocean. Several human corpses are floating in the water nearby. No storms were involved, neither were other boats involved, neither were any aircraft.

    Submarine.

Actually how about this? People paddling/surfing/whatever got swept out to sea and drowned. The life boat got there a bit late.

What if it's a HPS or MH lamp, and it takes 20 mins to warm up? ;)

P.S. Quest_techie had the correct answer. You bulb geek. :)

  18. well if it's an led it won't really get warm at all, in 20 years this'll be a defunct riddle, I defer, I know no good riddles.....

Nope, not a submarine. A submarine is a kind of boat. I should have mentioned that the yacht is unoccupied, thus rendering invalid the "lifeboat got there too late" thoery.

Unlike that lame answer about the ant and the sugar this one has a very satisfying and all together plausible answer.

  20. There is a yacht out in the ocean. Several human corpses are floating in the water nearby. No storms were involved, neither were other boats involved, neither were any aircraft.

the yacht was full of corpses to dump, the dumper fell overboard and couldn't swim

    damn mob life.....
