i don't know how the cop found out, but if she left the baggie out in the open, then thats stupid, you shouldn't leave stuff like that in plain view. and then even if the baggie wasn't in the open, do not consent to a search. its not that hard to say "I don't consent to any searches officer."
well, i think they pulled her over for speeding...and then they just addded that marijuana thing..i think it just had like a flake in it. i duno if they searched her, i would have to ask.
Not consenting to a search does not really make you look guilty, its standing up for your rights. 4th amendment dude, "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
no, its using your constitutional rights. and how does it make you look guilty for using your rights? i don't understand... have you ever seen a Cops episode were a person was pulled over for speeding or a broken tail light and then the cop eventually finds some drugs that were hiding in the persons car. all that driver had to do was say he doesn't consent to a search and would have gotten away with atleast a warning to fix the light or at maximum a speeding ticket. people need to read up on your constitutional rights and start using them...thats what they are there for. thank you
What if the cops search you and your vehicle without you giving consent? It happened to me last year in MN. They found nothing in the vehicle but they found a used pipe, two packs of rolling papers and a baggy with "what appeared to be a small amount of green leafy substance" in one of my pockets. Good thing they didn't find the 1/8 in another pocket. Since I'm not an American I didn't know what the exact laws are there. They never charged me with any drug or paraphenillia charges either, thank god. They did charge me for what they pulled me over for (accually what they knocked me into the ditch for), but that's a different story.

Commiting a crime/illegal act automaticly makes you a suspect to whatever, so they can search whatever the FUCK they want, thats why on cops you dont see them saying "i dont consent to a search"..cuz they cant, they already just committed a crime. Now if a cop just came up to you and wanted to search you, just on a hunch (like if u have a pot leaf shirt on or sumthin) THEN you can object to it... too bad for ure frend, shouldnt have been speeding, lol.
You don't see them saying "I dont consent to a search" because they don't know they can do that, most of the people on cops are idiot rednecks anyway. I know people who were speeding, got pulled over, and they were asked if the pig could search the car. They said yes and were busted, because they didn't know they could say no and get off. The 4th amendment is designed to keep pigs from doing shit like that to you. Good advice, break one law at a time, lessen the chance of being noticed.
you're a fucking idiot. On Cops, they only show the stupid people who consent to the search...they don't show the people they didn't bust. Do you think all the pull-overs on Cops actually result in an arrest? Its not good TV to show people just getting a ticket for speeding and refusing to consent to a search. And simple speeding, not stopping at a Stop sign or running red light are all traffic violations. You're only going to get a ticket for it, unless you are drunk, high, or the cop can see illegal stuff in the open; or unless you are criminally speeding/reckless driving - which depends on the state you are in. In Vermont, going 30 mph over the speed limit is criminal speeding which can result in arrest. So know the laws for that in your state. And saying "I don't consent to a search" does work. I've used it before, i told my friends to use it when we got pulled over. Even if we had nothing in the car, we still would not consent to a search. And if a cop does search and finds something when you refused to consent to a search, that evidence will be thrown out in a court - or it should be because the cop had no right to search. with all the rollbacks on civil liberties, who knows what can happen now...
By saying no to a search? It's smart...DUH! You don't have to let them search, and they can't assume guilt if there's no probable cause.

Cops is just for entertainment, some of it is staged and its so edited that ur not gonna see the real deal. think about it, Cops film crew is with a policeman and he pulls over someone for speeding, and wants to search his car the man says no. What entertainment is that? They get ratings by showing the cops beat the bloody hell out of people.
