A while back I was taking anti-depressants and when I first took them like the first 2 weeks it was like being on pot, it was so awesome. Has anyone had this happen. Also would it be safe to take anti depressants on a regular basis but not everyday ( or else you wouldn't get the effect) to get that "pot effect" or is that dangerous?
No it isn't safe! You're meant to take the dose your doctor prescribes, when he prescribes. Those things alter your brain chemistry. Thats something that needs to be monitored by your doctor, who knows what he's doing. Please don't screw around with this, especially if you are depressed enough to be on meds in the first place.
thats never happened to me before! everytime i took antidepressants, even if they werent for me [trying to get f**ked up] they didnt do anything at all, but i dont know....
dont try and substitute weed for antidepressants....try an herbal antidepressant, they're much better for you....
No, I never had that happen and I've been on 3 different anti-depressents before [I now boycott ADs for my own personal reasons] However, when I was on anti-depressents, when I smoked pot I would actually trip out from pot, rather then just get the normal high that I used to. I don't smoke anymore either though... after tripping those few times, I'm too paranoid to smoke regardless of the fact that I'm off anti-depressents. I'm not the type of person who enjoys tripping, it just freaks me out and makes me want to snap out of it ASAP.
i've popped so much paxil in these last 3 weeks or so, i wouldnt be surprised if i turned into a pill. kidding, obviously.. but seriously, these things are so much better than pot.. funnest drug i've ever taken. people say they alter brain chemistry, but when i come down i dont feel super sad at all, like i imagined i would.. im really high right now, been peaking for almost 30 hours. last time i took these, i was tripping balls for over 140 hours straight... no joke. coolest drug ever. :H
Messing with anti-depressants is really quite stupid. I'd try using something like Ginseng or st John's Wort. They're natural and are proven to work just aswell as other anti-depressants for light - moderate forms of anxiety/ depression.
These drugs are not recreational in any way. For starters, you have to acheive steady blood levels for them to have any effect, which takes several weeks of daily dosing. If you are trying to take a massive dose to quickly achieve these blood levels, you run a very good chance of permanently disturbing the rhythym of your heart and of having a seizure. There is NO antidote to antidepressant overdose. I urge you to use caution. What you are describing is the ultimate placebo effect, and not an actual effect of the drug.
PROVEN??? By WHO?!? They very often do not contain the ingredients the label indicates, or at least not at the same level. I have NEVER seen one report suggesting that ginseng is effective for depression. I have seen many studies alleging the possible effectiveness of St John's Wort, but the quickly diminishing sales of it suggest it is not nearly as effective as once hoped. Also, SJW has some MAO properties, which can be very dangerous, and MANY, MANY drug interactions. If it were my money, I would certaintly invest in pharmaceuticals, with a track record of safety and effectiveness, and well understood risks.
What antidepressant? "Antidepressant" is much too large of a class of medication to answer this question appropriately.
Your right. . . it is just stupid. ________ Since the introduction of PAXIL in the United States, 342 spontaneous cases of deliberate or accidental overdosage during paroxetine treatment have been reported worldwide (circa 1999). These include overdoses with paroxetine alone and in combination with other substances. Of these, 48 cases were fatal and of the fatalities, 17 appeared to involve paroxetine alone. Commonly reported adverse events associated with paroxetine overdosage include somnolence, coma, nausea, tremor, tachycardia, confusion, vomiting, and dizziness. Other notable signs and symptoms observed with overdoses involving paroxetine (alone or with other substances) include mydriasis, convulsions (including status epilepticus), ventricular dysrhythmias (including torsade de pointes), hypertension, aggressive reactions, syncope, hypotension, stupor, bradycardia, dystonia, rhabdomyolysis, symptoms of hepatic dysfunction (including hepatic failure, hepatic necrosis, jaundice, hepatitis, and hepatic steatosis), serotonin syndrome, manic reactions, myoclonus, acute renal failure, and urinary retention. ___________ Sure sounds like fun!
I've had to quit AD's in the past from seratonin overload. VERY unpleasant. But I've had two shrinks tell me that pot is an anti-depressant, that I self medicate, that I would have to take ADs forever if I quit pot. I like pot alot better than any pills ever prescribed to me, so I'm staying with that.
