i have been vegetarian for about 1 year and 6 months. i've read books on what vitamins i should take and shit, but im still confused. i take vitamin b-12 everyday, along with a multivitamin every one in a while, when i think my stomache can take it (i have a weak stomache and the vitamins sometimes make me puke from the taste). im wondering what vitamins should i be taking (i know it probably differes with each person), but i just want the basic vegetarian ones.... i should ask my doctor but, everyone has been so critical of my vegetarianism that i;m afraid he will be too. plus, i dont fuckin trust doctors. but one day, next time i see him, i suppose i'll ask. if it'll do any good. or do i not even need any suppliments. well, the books i've read say it's the most healthy if i do.

yeah i would not trust any modern doctors either.

if your taking a multivitamin your set. you probably dont need to take a B complex EVERYDAY, but im sure it couldnt hurt. i drink soymilk everyday so i guess thats equivelant to taking a supplement everyday since it often has all the vegan vitamins you need, along with other soy products.

spirulina is also supposed to be a good source of b-12 and help focus mental energy, never tryed it though. i think your doing good not taking a multi-vitamin everyday though, i take one like once every two weeks maybe, and only if i feel like it. too many vitamins can become toxic and the body and its better to teach the body to recome resourceful and science has proven undernutrition is much healthier. how do you think ghandi lived so long being a fruitarian?

do you eat any products fortified with vitamins? lots of veg products have all the vitamins you need in them for consumer appeal, and well, for health. if not try soymilk, youll love it and its usually fortified with a handfull of nutrients, b vitamins, and naturally very nutritious, and extremely ecological to produce, and its delicious, much better than regular milk imo....unless you have a specific condition i doubt you need a b supplement everyday, though ive heard they promote a stable nervous system. maybe every other day or once a week? once a week is what my nutrition vegan raw foodist guru does i think, hes very in the know with so much food and stuff and usually who i ask if i am curious about something which i find i usually am as my diet is in constant evolution, i can ask him though if you want.

W00t. I firmly believe that ODing on vitamin suppliments will make your body wimpy!

There's a great thread somewhere about vitamin B. Apparently, the RDA is only 2 micrograms. So if a dime weighs 1 gram, imagine cutting up a dime into 2000 pieces and eating one piece a day. It'll take you 5.5 years to eat it. So with that in mind, I wouldn't sweat it at all. I'm a little paranoid, so once in a while I'll sprinkle a little brewer's yeast on my food. Unwashed, organic fruits are another great source, because there are trace amounts of B12 on the skin.

You won't need vitamins if you eat a balanced diet and pay attention to eat different things. Just get a nice organic multivitamin. Nothing fancy needed,
