I'm one of the biggest Floyd Freaks going, but I wanna remind everyone that what you will see is 4 Guys over the age of 60 - staggering about the stage with grey-balding heads; re-living their gilded youth of the 1960s-70s.'Cream' - 'Crosby Stills & Nash' - they're all doing it.Personally I think it's misguided & I shall not be watching Pink Floyd on Live 8 because a bad performance would make me scoop up all my expensive Pink Floyd C.D.s & take them out to the BackYard & start an improptu 'Bonfire'!!!.

I am sorry your loyalty is so paper thin as to be like the MTV-brainwashed generation and base it all on appearance.

    Fair enough comment -Mate.

The Pink Floyd are possibly:the finest Progressive Rock band that ever walked into a recording studio.

What you may or may not see on Saturday July 2nd will really make of break the Floyd. If their performance is lacklustre & over-shadowed by better performances by newer artists;- The Floyd will loose all their legendary status -veneer or otherwise- that has built up since 1981.

I really believe that they are ageing men who don't give a damn any more for good music or to preserve a proud reputation.

C.D. sales are at stake here.

.................& what next for Live 8 ?????.....The return of Pete Townsend????.
    Stay tuned folks!!!.

I disagree that their entire legend depends on this one night. I think that has already been established.

Also...with it being the Floyd, I highly doubt a lackluster performance.

I wouldn't say their entire legend..... but what if it did suck ass.... what if they fuck up in every song, make it sound like shit? (I too highly doubt this, but think about the consequences here) Think about all those people out there that would lose respect for Pink Floyd. I'm not saying I would, but it would have an impact on me for sure.

Last time any of them performed it was fairly decent, I heard. Besides, if they do suck we wont even notice. we'll be sitting there going 'oh man, that's roger waters and david gilmour. together!!" Even if they come out piss drunk and fuck it all up they'll be better than any of the new pop bands. will the 'younger generation' realize that? probably not. they'll probably just see a bunch of old farts and wonder what thefuss is about and sqiurm until Robbie Williams or Snoop Dogg come on.

I didnt notice the big discoball rising up out of the floor until the lights hit it because it was the guitar solo from comfortably numb and the big Mr. Screen was tilting and all the lights around it were zeroing in on gilmour. and i wasnt even stoned, just staring at the screen and what not.i imagine the people on the floor couldnt help but notice. anyway, i was like 'whoa where did that come from'when they lit it up. Anyone else see that tour and have that experience?

Knowing me, prob have to wait till it comes out on HBO Second Chance or some &*%^ to see it, but at least I now have another reason to live .. for a while :)

Yes its just for Live8, but we can always hope more comes of it! Highly unlikely, but possible.

If they do a U.S. tour I would sell my soul, cut off my limbs, sell them as well, cut my hair, and stay sober for the rest of my life if it would help me go see them. But alas, hopping a freight ship and heading to London isn't what my mom has in mind for a meaningful experience. Whatever.

I really doubt they will do a US tour. they could have played at live aid in 85, but of course the band was fighting over the band name rights in court at the time...... geldof and the band have ties, since he performed in the wall movie. Oh well, pink floyd performing in london once again, its no good for us americans....... unless you got hbo or something....

dont hold your breath about the tour. it wont happen, trust me.

There has been no other band with less publicity and more success (combined) than Pink Floyd.

This is a testament to their greatness.
