Any stoner out there must of used the term 4:20 or have a spillf on 4:20 but where does it originate ? I've heard of loads of different versions of the story, so what yours ???
seriously...i'm not joking...the number 420 follows me around... it's usually a time...pretty much at least once a week someone will ask me the time and it will be 4:20... it's used in a lot of films too...lost in translation being the one i saw last... apparently it relates to old american police code...a code 420 was a person or persons found with marajauna in their posession. that's the story i've heard anyway...
Yeh, it follows me around too, I've heard that aboutthe police too, Also that when kids get out of school @ 4:20 that was the first thing that stoners did.
Another one I have heard is that when the cops just finished there shift they had a spliff on the grassy Knoll at 4:20 Hmm any more out there ?
Ah, it supposedly originated in California in the 70s. Kids at a high school would meet at 4:20 after school and it became a big thing eventually. Nobody really knows.
I don't really know anybody who "celebrates" 4:20 as some sort of national stoner day, other than some really annoying americans. They say it is the old police code for someone in possesion.
I think it's a yank thing - they have up to 31 months in the year and only 12 days in a month so they can have dates that work like that. I think it translates as the 20th of April.
I remember finding a leaflet on my face at glastonbury, i was lying down and it blew straight into my face, the wind actually held it there long enough for me to peel it off my lazy mans beard. The first instict was to throw it away in disgust until i noticed it had 420 written all over it in highlighted red text( at least i think the highlights were there) Anyway all i remember is that it said "judgement day" is mentioned in the bible 420 times. I wish i could remember more, I remember keeping it to read on the train, i know this isn't really an answer, i just thought you might enjoy visualizing a leaflet being blown in someones face like that.
This was found to be untrue, there is nothing about drugs associated with the 4:20, that was just a myth, But there are 420 chemical elements to weed tho.
