In a yoga class how long would you want to be in Savasana for at the beginning and how long at the end of the class? (Personally speaking - I'm not asking what's the 'right' length of time) DB
i usually only do savasana at the end of class, but it is good to do in the beggining to get relaxed and centered and in touch with you breath. at end of class 10-15 minutes. personally i dont think 5 minutes is long enough. although in a book i have "The Anatomy of Hatha Yoga" it recommends putting a 30 minute limit on savasana. it warns that staying in that state too long isn't healthy for your nervous system... i can see that, i mean if i laid in savasana all day long i couldn't eat any good food or enjoy any good conversation hehe
I have to do it at the beginning to get everyone (mostly women you can probably guess) to shut up! It quietens them down at least anyway! Then at the end, I do it for about 5-10 minutes. That probably isn't long enough but I think I will try to increase it. My body tries to make me compensate for doing yoga by tempting me with thoughts of large glasses of wine
listen!!!!!!!!1 if you want to benefit from savasana at the most highest level, do it up to three times a day for 10 to 15 minutes. I do this every day but just don't fall assleep becouse when you do you loode the point to it which id prana baby prana. jahbless mike
