i feel like i'm back in hawaii, they're EVERYwhere... 'cept no wings thank god. if these were flying around then i'd Really be freaking out, but instead we just have huge cockroaches everywhere... they're outside all the time, more so at night, and they get inside the buildings. we had one in our classroom today.. which is nowhere near an outside door, and they're showing up in our dining rooms at work too, even though we spray regularly. argh, so gross.

anybody else having cockroach problems? i don't remember it being this bad last year... or maybe i'm just more aware of it this time.

cockroaches scare me bad! I stopped hangin' out with this one chick, they were so bad that they got on me. I had to make excused as her not to come to my home...they thrive in a woman's pocketbook, eating equal packets and gum.

No they're not, if they are the same ones I've seen. They are both disgusting, filthy, hard to kill critters that have been around since the dawn of time and will be around long after we are gone. I grew up in Texas around Dallas and I think those there are water bugs. Now, when I moved to Phoenix they had those that they called sewer bugs - ugh[IMG], BIG roaches with wings. First one I saw flying at me, I thought I was losing my mind. Hahahhahhahhahahhaa and yuuuuuuucky.

Is this what you have? This is NOT what I grew up calling a water bug or roach for that matter. They bite! Yikes!

    Water Bug

Water Bug, common name for aquatic insects of several families (see Bug), including water boatmen, back swimmers, and water scorpions. The name water bug is sometimes restricted to the giant water bugs. This group of tropical to temperate species includes the largest of aquatic bugs, some of them more than 11 cm (more than 4.5 in) in length. Giant water bugs are also strong fliers. Their piercing, sucking mouthparts can deliver severe wounds through injection of proteolytic (protein-breaking) enzymes. Water boatmen, less than 12 mm (less than 0.5 in) in length, have long, oarlike hind legs. Water scorpions, which are approximately 2.5 to 5.0 mm (about 1 to 2 in) long, have long whiplike "tails" that are actually two respiratory tubes. Their painful bite is not as dangerous as the sting of true scorpions. Scientific classification: Water bugs belong to the order Hemiptera. Water boatmen make up the family Corixidae. Back swimmers make up the family Notonectidae. Water scorpions make up the family Nepidae. Giant water bugs make up the family Belostomatidae.

Why is Texas so infested with roaches?

We have catipillars too and centipedes. We also have lightning bugs which are bright green when they light up.

Hell naw i dont have those. that looks scary. the ones i have are solid black, a tad bigger than a roack, NO wings, long antennae that curve backwards alot. its kinda like a roach, but they dont really go for your food. they go for drains and dark cold places
