Today was a good day. I splurged and got lots of new books which fills me with much delight as I have been wanting something new to read for almost a month now. I got the latest from chuck palahniuk, I've read all his other books but noticed his writing has gone downhill with the last 3 books. hopefully Diary will be a better example of his writing capabilities. I read a book last year called Ishmael which proved to be one of the best reads of the year for me. I'd definately say it is in my top 5 favorite books. today i picked up two more by Daniel Quinn called The Story Of B and another titled After Dachau. I know they won't disappoint. Sticking with tradition I picked up some more Kurt Vonnegut as well. He's by far my favorite author and 2 of his novels reside in my Top5 list. Today I'm going to start on Breakfast of Champions. Hopefully i'll have it finished by tommorow so I am able to start on the other by said author called TimeQuake. I've heard lots of good things about Tom Robbins but had never picked up anything by him. Today while browsing I stumbled across almost every book by him and after much deliberation and reading of dust covers i narrowed my selection to two. Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas and another by the name of Fierce Invalids Home From Hot Climates. I'm almost an exclusively fiction reader but certain non-fiction subjects interest me. Mainly the occult, supernatural, mythology and things of that ilk. So while looking for a good read on Egyptian Mythos I stumbled upon a book Called Mystics and Messiahs:Cults and new religions in america. A mr. Phillip Jenkins is credited with writing it and I must say the pretense of the book looks quite interesting. Perhaps this gives you an idea of what types of books I enjoy and the purpose of this post is for a list of recomended reading. I've already had my library order cosmic trigger trilogy for me as well as House of Leaves but I'm looking for some more good reads which might otherwise escape my radar. Any Recomends?
