it has been said that marijuana is a gateway drug, but how many of you have done any other drugs besides weed? i dont think its a gateway drug, just because a lot of other drug users have done weed doesnt mean it made them or whatever it is they clame.
i actually agree with that conception of herb. i actually do think it is a "gateway". it doesn't have to be, but definetly can be. i know after years of my smoking pot, all the while never doing any other drugs besides a few vicadins every now and then; after years of smoking pot, now, every night, when if i don't get high i get incredibly restless and ... bored i guess is one way of putting it. Because of that feeling, i set in on cocaine and of course any phsychadelic. now, i don't say that it made me start these other things, but i do say that is "helped" me along. i'm glad it happened. to me, not doing drugs almost seems like a waste of life. my outlook on the term "drugs" i'm sure is opposite of most others so i wont even go there, but there is my story.
Eh, I don't think it's a gateway drug by default, depends on the user I guess. The only drug I've been interested in besides pot is shrooms, harder drugs don't seem worth it to me. Only drugs I have done are pot (oh yeah and of course booze). I think the main reason why pot would be a gateway drug is its illegality - pot users are forced to seek street dealers who may peddle harder drugs.
I think alcohol is a gateway drug. Once you get that buzzed and / or drunk feeling you kinda get a little hooked on thinking about what else could be out there. Then you hear about weed which gives you a much more pleasant feeling without a hangover so naturally who wouldn't want to try that. And since you already tried weed and you can handle it well and you do it responsibly when your friends ask if you want to roll or try a hit of acid it usually seems ok. After all it's not like you're going to do it every day. And that's where some people stop and others can't get enough and move to addictive drugs like heroin and cocaine. But I seriously think it all starts with alcohol and the bad feelings associated with it. Everyone loves the highs but the morning afters suck. If drugs can offer you the same and typically better feelings without all the negativity then that's what most people will choose over alcohol.
For me, personally, marijuana isn't a gateway drug. I have never even done marijuana and I don't drink, but I have done other psychadelics...some legal some illegal. I think it all depends on the user's preferences.
When I was 14 (hehe last year) I used to say that because I always said I would only smoke and drink. I never believed that marijuana was a gateway drug; well I was wrong and it is. Two years ago when I first smoked pot I was scared I was gonna die or get really stupid. I was wrong there too. I still get good grades and I'm not dead. When I first tried another drug other than weed I was just as scared as when I first smoked. What got me motivated into trying that other drug was saying smoking pot didn't kill me so this probably won't either. There I was right. Well in conclusion marijuana is a gateway drug because it got me into trying something even harder. That other drug was DXM. After taking DXM I gained a tolerance and didn't get the same high feeling as I used to.
actually weed wasnt my first drug, and weed definetly hasnt made me do other harder drugs ive chosen to do them myself it wasnt because of weed
I think mj got the reputation of a gateway drug because it's the easiest to find. if you could find acid on every street corner in america then maybe that would be called a gateway drug. i started with alcohol, went to weed, then shrooms, then vicodin, then dxm. so i guess it would called a gateway drug in my situation because it's led me to other drugs.
weed is the most popular drug used recreational by young adults . and since young adults are very curious and some people have addictive personalities they want more "cool stuff" to try. so yes in a way it is. but not really. its the user. its also because marijuana most people get isnt the nice stuff that makes you trip so they need more stuff once marijuana gets boring.
robot has a good point. i made the decision, herb didn't FORCE me to do other drugs. but the way i see it, it really taught me about life and things so that i began to want to do other drugs as to learn more and other things. plus, i think a definite point with this is just simply that people today in America especially are fed all kinds of bullshit and are programed to be scared as hell of drugs. when really, that's all it is, is them just trying to inflict that fear in you and scare you out of experiencing drugs. marijuana ia so safe and harmless that people begin using it, then realize it's not like it's made out to be. So it just sort of is the tester drug for most and many realize that smoking pot isn't so bad, it's actually great. So that fear is diminished and we move on to other things in search of more and more expansion.
i agree. if shrooms, for example, were in high availability, they could be considered a gateway drug. i think it does depend on the user. because i tried pot, i ended up trying other things. not that it's a bad thing at all because it isn't.
im just gona say that weed most definatly is a gateway drug. I started out thinking i was never gona do drugs especially not the real bad ones ever. Then i finnaly tried weed and relized its not bad.. but friends introduce you to newer drugs and you start thinking maby its not that bad and you want to experiance the new high or feeling.. like using mushrooms or lsd.. and that goes on to experiamenting with drugs you know are very addicting like cocaine/crack/heroin what ever. I mean how many people do you know just starting doing crack one day before ever smoking some pot? As much i hate to say it marijuana introduces you into the drug world and users usually go on from there or just stay with the good old MJ.. Dun wanna sound like some anti drug person here but its very true marijuana is a gateway drug... unfortunatly thats probably one of the biggest reasons it will almost never become legal in the U.S. because of that arguement.
sik wit it, i think that one of the main reason (if not THE main reason) that it si a gateway drug is that its cheap, easy to find, yet still illegal. if your doing illegal things, then whats to stop you from doing otehr illegal things? if people saw weed as an acceptable, legal substance like alchohol then it might not even be considered a drug (genereallly ie), like alchohol. but then i guess if ppl r saying nicotine is a gateway drug then that might be different. though i think nicotine is prolly like that caus it linked to weed, and THEN to other drugs. meh overall, i agree it is a gateway drug. but who cares? beer is a gateway drink to whiskey...
most definetly not. I have done amost every popular street drug available. I started smoking pot at age 11. dealing joints at jr high to supply my high. I have done over 500 hits of lsd, and countless shrooms.I did methamphetamine for nearly 20 years. My brain misfires from all the abuse, and i regret ,ever doing meth at all. Marijuana is not the gateway, unless you let society brainwash you into believing it is.THey subliminally program us to believe it is by repeatedly telling us it is a gateway drug- IT'S all propaganda. I no longer do any drugs- unless prescribed by my family doctor. I have a script for cannabis, smoke it daily, and never have the urge to do any other drugs. But really-since when does pot impair your ability to reason IT DOESN"T. since when does pot give you a lack of judgement? Never to my knowledge> alcohol on the other hand, I remember when i was quitting meth- I could not get drunk either, because if i was drunk i would be like "ah fuck it ,gimme a line, i gotta drive" or whatever excuse i felt like using. I gotta agree- alcohol is the gateway drug, and it is legal.
Wether its a gate way drug depends on where u live and the people who do it with and you as a person. People start of smoking weed cus they think its "safe" and that u dont get addicted and u dont die from it as easily as other drugs. The fact is people who smoke it either love it or hate it or just dont mind it its the same as anything else really, if u love it u may take ur experiences further if u dont mind it u could just stick to weed and not be botherd to try anything else. Smoking weed is basically a hobby for some people or a habit for others just depends on why you smoke it. I think people who start of smoking it thinking its safe is only true if they dont make a big habit out of it. People who only do other drugs if they are interested in what they can bring for them, are people who are ok to approach trying drugs but people who do it as a habit are just gonna cause themselfs harm and not know wat there getting into, and become addicted to somthing that they dont know why they took it in the first place.
everything is a gateway drug first its sex then its more sex........lol.. I agree marijuana can lead to other drugs. In fact any drug can. I just stick to mary peace chickens
