I've a few heads of lettuce growing in my garden, and last night my family and I ate the first full grown salad from the garden! There's tons of herbs back there too, and a few edible flowers which made the salad even prettier.

I know it sounds weird, but I really am extatic, and it tasted soooo good!

I also have about a dozen tomato plants growing back there, 4 different types. I want to make some salsa preserves, I've an excellent recipe from a friend of mine to make it, I can't wait!

hi, im a great home grown salad fan too. Can i suggest you look for some of the lettice types which are ower wintering? You sow in august to probably about late september, some are grreenhouse types (if you have one) which will mature fast but are usually soft/butter head types. Or there are out doors types such as cos winter density which mature late winter/early spring.
Also rember to keep up small regular sowings to have a constant supply during the summer.
    best wishes

That's a good feeling, huh. Nothing you buy in a store can compare to something you've raised yourself. It just tastes so much better.
