Am i the only one who is disgusted with the petty divisions in this country due to politics? I'm a liberal, and i make no apoligies for that, but that does not mean I automaticaly hate all Republicans or conservatives for that matter. There are certain elements within in the conservative camp, whose values and tactics have even terrified devoted Republicans. Most people call them "Neo-Cons", but certain political analysts prefer to call them "Rad-Cons" (Radical Conservatives).
I feel that if we are to end America's political and social debilitation, we must swallow our prejudices and realize that when all is said and done with concern to our country, more was said than done. If we could show a little more empathy, and turn away from "attack dog" politics, maybe America or at least these forums would be a more pleasant place.

My understand from it is that the upper class just want to distract you and put you against each other, creating a sense of "democracy in action", when you really support the same economic system (capitalism), the same form of government (borgeois democracy) and basically the same, smaller issues.

Instead of having a fight between those who want to liberate the workers from their exploiters, you now have liberals and conservatives fighting each other, whom both basically support the same things.

    My two cents...

Communism, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually agree with most of what you said. The fact is, the two-party system in the United States has effectively marginalized any party or point of view outside of the middle of the road, mainstream status quo. Their only interest is in preserving their own power. "Two parties" is only one more than tyrrany, and in this case, there is no discernible difference between the "two" parties. I would like to see a system where parties both from the further "left" and the further "right" have a voice in government, much like Europe today. Until this happens, there will be no change in the United States. It is only in the interest of these "two" parties to perpetuate the myth that they are different, radically different, and all the "red state", "blue state" bs that goes with it. All we have now is rich white man 'A' who supposedly supports working people, and rich white guy 'B' who supposedly supports populist ideals and business. Try to figure out who's who. Damned if I can....

Well said, folks, and I agree with what everyone is saying.

I would love to see more viewpoints represented in our political system. Think about it, when it comes down to it everyone wants the same things, freedom, happiness, security, peace, etc...we just have different opinions on how to get there. We need to completely represented by our gov't, not just by two viewpoints. Especially, like another said, their only intrest is preserving their power. I think it is obvious to anyone that the generally population isn't even close to fairly represented by our politicians.

But is it our own fault? We elect (most) these politicians. But of course, new or additional parties aren't exactly encouraged (and some would say they are discouraged) by the gov't.

Yeah, like "everyone" says when you vote for a third party: a wasted vote. As long as everyone believes that, there is no hope for change.

wow, this is like the most productive post I've seen on here in...shit, years I think! good thread!
I agree with what everyone has said, but just because I'm anti-capitalist doesn't mean I'm a communist. There are certain things that communism has in common with capitalism, and that's a class-structured, hierachical state and/or corporate sect that seeks to keep the common man down, only in different ways, brainwashing the people into believing that they are living a TRULY communist or capitalist way of life. Even though people hate the word, what many agree is the truest form of democratic discourse is social libertarianism, or aka, anarchism. (notice I didn't say "anarchy"...ya know, the image we all have of kids in torn jeans at a Slayer concert) lol.

but anyway, the 2 party system can now be considered "officially dead". 3rd parties are COMPLETELY shut out. Hands down. The 2 party system has literally locked itself shut from outside influence. It now operates freely unto its own volition. It still calls itself rhetorically "democratic" in nature, but to those who use a little critical thinking...hell, just thinking will notice how anti-democratic the entire federal electoral system has become. It can in a very physical-literal way be called a true-to-form autocracy. And that boils down to dictatorial rule. A dictatorship. The congress and mainstream media have been silent on the issue. All four branches of government have been hijacked from the democratic process. Voting is now dead (the stolen elections of 2000 and '04). Luckily, thanks to freedom of the internet and to read books and articles this information can easily be found with a little research. But the point is...the hour is later than you probably think. A police state is in the works, headed by the formiddable Pentagon and other government structures.
Start talking to people about this. And if they say..."I'm not into politics"...either smack them as hard as you can (just kidding, sorta lol) or try to reach them somehow. There are plenty of good, exciting documentaries out there about the current situation that teach and in a scary way, entertain. Check out some of Alex Jones's most recent films. www.infowars.org
