There is something going on in the world today. The world feels like its getting tighter, the tension is building, but for what? America is supposed to be a free country, a place of liberty. And before anyone starts. Yes I know there are poor places to live and bad places to have been born, but most of the world isn't such a place and the ones that are the US doesn't bother to help the way it should because we are too busy fighting amoungst our selves. People are stealing from each other, killing each other, and destroying this earth. What is wrong with people, and this isn't in our nature either don't say it is. Years and years ago we used to all be happy people living in little cabins making our own food. You know what they didn't really have? money. There has always been a form of currency, but it was never quite used as it is to the extreme today. Used to people didn't need money to get vegetables, they grew them themselves. These days you can't live without money, because you have to be able to just pay land taxes, water bill (heh they charge use for WATER!), and sewage. its just not what it should be, but my questions to you is how the hell did this happen to us, the most dominate species, the smartest animals on this planet are still too dumb to solve their own problems and just stop fighting. What is going on??????
Thats what you/we get for living in a first-world country. Canada is no different, though maybe not as worse in some areas. You shouldnt take it for granted though, it's much better then living in the slums in Rio de Janeiro or Medellin, India or Somalia where most people don't make it to 20 due to countless reasons. We have the privelages of things like gas, fresh water, internet, clean food, heat, a house, education, money, the list goes on. While we don't really need most of it, we still have it. If you think about it using a computer is just a drain on the earth, to power your monitor, to power the tower, to power the modem, to power the severs at the CO, to power more servers, and for what? To post on a forum? Sure life 10'000 years ago would have been easier, in a way, living in 2005 is a breeze, if you ignore all the dirty stuff, like war, poverty, dirty cops, corrupt goverments, murders, abuse, corporations and the like. But not to worry, at the rate we're currently fucking the earth up, within 400 years it'll be gone.
Grubbing for the almighty dollar is an evil necessity for most of us. Power to ones able to get off that merry-go-round. BTW, welcome and I love your user name
I think something is just on the verge of happening. Or at least, I hope. I just want people to wake up and understand. Doing leaflet drops and public engagement about climate change, I see this all the time... And, not to offend, it's mostly the older side of the "general public" that don't want to know. They give you such a dirty look, and just cross to the other side of the road. Younger people are generally more receptive, which is good... I think this means that hopefully the next few generations will have something to say about the state of the world. Ah, we can only hope and do our bit xx
*eyes mist over* when people used to live in nice little cabins that they built themselves they took the land from it's rightful owners created untold damage to the place and then decieded to re-name it 'America'.. stop banging on about the 'good old days' there was never any such thing as 'the good old days' for cryin out loud. If we did not trade with each other (and the current form seems to be with money) we would be screwed... 'They' charge for sewage/water (not the bottled kind) and such like because it takes 'man power' to look after the it all.. lets go back to the times when we threw our shit into the street shall we ?. I admire you 'spirit' and all but take those rose tinted spectacles off for a while.
From my perspective, especially whithin my family, I would have to say the opposite. Sure, young "hippies" are more receptive, but young people in general are not as receptive in this area as the older ones I know (from my perspective only)
