i was homeschooled since the age of ten. my parents made up their own cirriculam and everything. i had the choice of getting a ged or my high school completion. i have chose not to get either yet because of the war in iraq and who knows if they plan on drafting, but the reason my parents took me out of public school was because the teachers refused to give me the correct schooling i needed . i was smarter than alot of the kids and they would not bump me up....my parents did an awesome job on my chooling and i could not have asked for a better life during my school years
glad to see others were homeschooled too. I was homeschooled throughout gradeschool, it did wonders I think, and it was so much more fun than going to a real school...
I totally agree! Home education gives us the chance to learn things that are really important to us, that interest us, and engage our passions. Being out of the stressful school system works wonders for our disposition and learning what we want makes sure we've always got something new and interesting to talk or think about
my little sister hated going to public school so much she was sick all the time and it gave her ulcers...at the age of 6!
i wish i'd been homeschooled my parents seriously considered it but decided that with my personality i would have ended up really insular and been very hard to teach *sigh*
Yeah I had a few problems with bullys in grade school and my mom made the decision that i needed to be taught a much better loving environment.....and she did an awesome job teaching me...i was doing book reports on david therou philosphy at age ten...
To the original poster, why would you choose not to get your GED or HS diploma based on a draft that may never happen? I'm not sure I understand your reasoning there.
because if you dont have your ged or hs diploma they will not draft you...intil this war is over im not even considering a ged.
After doing some research, I found out that the draft or a draft does not exclude those without a GED or HS diploma.
quote: yes it does....my dad was in vietnam trust me i know. The rules have changed since then. Women are still not allowed to do combat roles, I really don't think you need to be worried about the draft.
OKay well, maybe if you looked into the recent draft info, you'd see that it has changed. I checked it out and not getting a GED or HS diploma doesn't mean that they will not draft you.
um...okay. So in the mean time since you aren't getting your diploma, what are you doing? Do you work? If so what kind of work do you do? I'm just curious, because most places even places you wouldn't think, expect you to have a GED or HS diploma. Missed opportunities....
i work at walmart making 13 bux an hour..and after that i am going to be a liscenced tattoo artist none of which require a ged.....
I was homeschooled all through middle school and end of elementary school. At the time i kind of hated it but now im really glad that thats the education i got and i think it really helped shape who i am today. i think homeschooling is great
Tip: when making a thread about the quality of your education, try running it through a spellcheck first.
uh yahno what...typos buddy not spelling erors...trust me i was spelling bee champ for oregon in 3rd and 4th grade....spelling is no problem for me...think twice before spewing egotistical crap...oh wait egotistical may be too big of a word for you to understand...thats okay though
Terribly sorry, Ms. Bee Champ. You intimidate me greatly with your usage of complicated words like "egotistical". Of course, typing "cirriculam" instead of "curriculum" was because the A and U keys are right by each other. "liscenced" and "licensed" are just keystrokes apart as well!
AFAIK, a HS diploma or a GED is required to join the Armed Forces. I completely understand sweetdred's reasoning. I have some friends who never got their son's SS numbers for similar reasons. My 14 yr old son and 16 yr old dd are both COs (Consciencious Objectors) as it requires a History of CO to avoid going to war. We are documenting their CO activities, so they can be used in case of a draft. My oldest would have a "Psychiatric Deferrment" as she has Tourette's Syndrome, but she does antiwar activities also.
