I recently moved into an old farmhouse and inherited 9 cats. I love animals to begin with, but these cats are really making appreciate them more. They come to me in the morning when I feed them and all they want is to be held, and pet and cuddled and talked to. They are so low maintenance! They really make me take a break and see their world!!!

Cats are wonderful and such interesting creatures! There is such a stigma attached to cats that they are mean and prefer to be left alone.....so NOT true! Some are definatley more independent than others but cats need just as much love and attention as any other "companion" animal. Infact I know that in another country (cant remember if it was italy or sweden)...somewhere in Europe.....there is a law that requires people to own at the very least two cats so that they will always have the company of each other.

    Enjoy your new friends!:)

That is sooooooooooo cool! I have always had a cat or 2 before, but was more into the dogs, mostly b/c they require so much attention, I guess, but these cats are so nice to hang with. They are wild cats for the most part, but when I pet 1, 3-4 have to join in the love fest. They just don't want anything except food and love!!

cats are the best animals i think they have a understand unlike most dogs. they seem to know when you want company, when you dont, and when your annoyed and they aqnnoy you even more but know how to get round you. e.g sitting on the newspaper and refusing to budge lol.
And i think all animals have other sense's we dont like when my sister was preganant our oldest cat always layed on her tummy, and when the baby was born he would sleep outside the babys room and when the baby would cry he would meow his little heart out till someone came to see .
by far cats are the best, we have 4 now and they are all such different natures, the one that owns me violet she is my baby and follows me everywhere. from when we get up till when we go to bed she will be there, and she brings me little presents like mice, birds, rats which im not too keen on. but other things as well like she will steal sweets from people and bring me them, she steals socks for me, and screams her little heart out until i get the 'presents' and say thank you to her. cats are cool xxx

WOW I have received a lot of responses to this thread!! Ive always had cats, but always had big dogs that required a lot of attention. I also raised an iguana who turned out to be quite relaxed and peaceful and always teamed up w/ my roommate's cat in some adventure (the daily adventure was pooping together, lol, seriously). Thats when I started paying more attention to cats. Now, these cats are amazing. They hunt late afternoon and the former owners didn't treat them well and left them here to fend for themselves. Once I got here, they were skiddish and real unclean, but w/in a few days they bathed themselves, I bathed them once I could get near them and since then they have been friendly. A couple still won't come near humans, really wild, but hang out when we're around.
I have heard that about cats, that they like babies and protect them. I guess they have a 6 mile radius also, like u think its ur cat, but so do 4 other households, lol. I am starting to believe what all cat lovers say dogs drool, cats rule (I still love dogs, though)!! They are so mystical and nocturnal. I love watching them w/ catnip (we have 2 huge catnip plants) and when I let them inside they walk around meowing in joy that the former owners and their mean dogs are gone!! Its so much freedom for them. They have started bringing us snakes and moles and started "helping" w/ our veggie garden!! Thanks for all the replies, guys!! Peace...

I love kitties. I have 17 right now, and they are all very different and special to me. Dogs can be loyal to several people and just want to please you, which is nice for some people. Cats will pick a person and stick by them forever. They only show affection sometimes but they can tell if you are sick or something is going wrong, and they will get in your bed and stay until you are better. They are just clever little buggers who will do whatever they want when they want. I love them for it.

People who don't like cats haven't owned one before. I love my two little furballs so much. They have provided hours upon hours upon hours of entertainment and companionship and everything that you ask for in a friend. And all they ask in return is to be loved and fed and played with.
