OK I have been on Ortho tri cyclen lo birth control for about 2 months...and its suppose to be a lower dose of hormones. Well I usually get really bad PMS before my period without the birth control. But these things are literally driving me mad....I am usually an even tempered and calm person. The last 2 months I have been so depressed and all my problems have just seemed to affect me alot more than usual. I feel so sad sometimes and depressed with no real reason. Situations at my job that normally would just make me upset, have me so angry I feel like throwing things...and have almost broken down in tears. I just zone out sometimes....and I feel really, really sad. Tonite my boyfriend kept pressing me for the reason I just became so sad all of the sudden...and I literally said :I dont know", then I just started crying and knew something was really wrong. I am not too happy to say that suicide has popped into my head about 2 times for a split second when I was arguing with my boyfriend. Its really scaring me. I mean, I have been depressed before but not like this...never to the point where I would need help...before it would pass....has anyone else had similar problems?....I think I need to stop taking them.

This sounds similar to the adverse reactions caused by Antidepressants.

I was not assuming that you did. What I actually meant was that medication has negative side effects that are either ignored by both doctors and their patients, or rarely taken into consideration. I question if anyone else has experienced these same conditions you have while taking Ortho Tri Cyclen. I would love to do a case study on the subject.

Oh and within the last week I have had a hard time breathing....which also is not normal for me..but is a side affect I recently found out. Not to mention the fact that I have been sleeping 12 hours a day and have absolutly no sex drive at all.....and I mean at all......I tried Yasmin another kind of birth control for about a month...but stopped it made me severly break out and made me depressed as well....but not this bad...maybe cuz I didnt take it that long...geez maybe my body just cant handle it....:( that sux.....

I would suggest talking with your doctor and switching brands. If that does not help, than maybe another form of contraceptive would be more appropriate.
