Just wondering how barefoot friendly Las Vegas is. Has anyone gone into the casinos or shows barefoot? Also are there any places that are clothing optional in the Vegas area? bud08
Hmm i was kinda woundering too... cuz i think i may be going to Vegas? why.. well becuse my parents find it fun?.. lol anyways It would be interesting to kno what kidna policies they have jumpin.
the electrocution was caused by a woman stepping on a metal plate that had a shorted light pole on it ... if I recall the article correctly.
I always step on the metal plates and have never felt a shock. But I suppose all it takes is one time when you come across a live metal plate. I would imagine the effect could be potentially worse in the rain. The trick is to jump onto the metal plate, and jump back off. That way you are never making contact with both the metal plate and the grounded sidewalk at the same time. That advice could save your life. Back in the early 1980's I was in Vegas with my parents and I saw a group of barefoot girls walking back to the casino from the water park across the strip. It was about 100 degrees F outside and they were running across the blacktop parking lot, except for one girl who was just casually walking. She even stopped for a while to let a car go by. Obviously she was a regular barefooter with soles tough enough to stand the heat.
In my opinion, Vegas is not nearly as barefoot friendly as many other places I've been. You can walk around outside on the streets barefoot without a problem - other than very hot pavement. But inside the casinos and hotels may be a different issue. After several days staying at Imperial Palace, barefoot the entire time, I was told I must put on footwear by a guard after he spotted me standing by a blackjack table after having just gotten up from several hours of gambling. At Slots-o-Fun, I was approached by a guard while sitting at a blackjack table and told I had to have on shoes to gamble there. At the coffee shop in Circus-Circus, they wouldn't let me in without footwear on, and another barefooter friend of mine was kicked out of the Circus-Circus buffet for being there barefoot. You may get away with it for awhile, but some of the guards love to assume the role of shoe police. I think as long as you keep moving you're probably OK. But try to do anything, like eat or gamble, and you may have a problem somewhere.
Don't ever worry about some "type of policy," and never ask. Just go barefoot. If they have some kind of policy and care to enforce it, they'll let you know. Just be prepared with some kind of footwear in your carry-on - just in case you need it. You probably won't.
