Does anyone know anything about realistic pain in dreams?

I've been having very realistic pain in some of my dreams and I'm really not used to it happening this oftan (wich has only been like, 3 times in about 4 months or something). My last two were the most disturbing.

In one, I was pinched at my stomach really fucking hard. It hurt like hell and when I pleaded for it to stop, he pinched harder. I couldn't believe the pain. Then he let go and I woke up and was suprised that I couldn't still feel it at all. It was probably a sort of 'empathy' thing with my dad because he's recovering from surgery and has a big insision there.

Just today, I took a nap and had a dream that (to make a very realistic dream that has to do with my relationship with my mom short) I was having this terrable pain in my head that shot insane amounts of tension and pain to my teeth. It came on like a REALLY bad disorienting anxiety attack that made me dizzy and ended up swelling up in my head with the most intense pain I hope I'll ever experience in my life. My teeth started to crack from it and, thankfully, I choked on one of the chips and woke up. Again, I was really surprised that I didn't still feel something from it. My immediate feeling upon waking was how lucky I was that I woke up from that reality. Then I felt my teeth thinking that I must have been grinding them really fucking hard or something... but no, I don't grind my teeth and my whole head felt fine...

What the hell?? I dont care about the weirdness or the symbolism, I can figure that out myself. But does anybody know what's up with the terribly realistic pain?

Btw, in the last one, I thought to myself for just a second "god I hope this is just a dream and I wake up to find that I'm ok and in a different world" but I felt like I knew it wasn't a dream and just continued to try to call the hospital. It felt so real that I kind of wonder(ed) if my wish was granted and here I am.

Sometimes when I dream of an animal biting me, or a fight, etc I feel a sort of phantom pain in the dream, and just a sort of dull ache when I wake up.

yea... i know it's pretty common to feel pain in dreams. i know that if i stub my toe on a footboard of a bed or something, i'll probably dream that something happend to cause it.

but these dreams have been really bad... i'm afraid to sleep for up to 3 days afterwards... heh... i know it sounds dumb...

that sounds familiar... sometimes i feel a pain around my ribs that i can't quite explain. it seems like a piece of muscle or something gets cought on my ribs and if i take deep breaths or move too much, it hurts. i know that's not what's happening, but it kinda feels like it.

not too long ago, i had a dream that i was shot in the head with a shotgun and it seemed like it felt really real. i felt a lot of power and pressure hit my head at 4 different places around my forhead and then everything went blank. i thought to myslef 'ok, i'm obviously dreaming... i know that didn't just happen but damn, i bet that's exactly what it feels like to get shot in the head with a shotgun before you die'. then i woke up.

oddly, about 5 hours later, i had a massive migraine complete with pounding veins and nausea. ...but it probably had to do with some bad food i ate...

I think some of the pain you have in dreams can be, like, real pain you're having when you're asleep.

Also, though, in the metaphor, perhaps the events in your life are causing you emotional pain (watch for "chakras", like stomach, or neck or forehead). The events in your life are affecting you in specific ways. Perhaps you are one to ignore the emotional pain you feel, and your dreams feel the need to remind you once in a while?

So something in your life causes you to feel, poetically, like you just got shot in the head and died?

Incidentally, I used to get a really loud noise in my head sometimes when I was in alienabductionland (you can feel both worlds and they get mixed up, sometimes with scary aliens and demons pulling you about) like a chainsaw. It didn't hurt, but it kind of did and I was scared to sleep for a while. Then I decided to get used to it if it was going to happen and explore the sensation when it did. It kind of went away after that. I don't know if I killed it with metaphor, but that's quite likely...

I think you're right with this. It makes a lot of sense right now. The head and tooth pain dream couldn't have been from real pain... At least, I can't think of anything that would have caused it.

Sounds like sleep paralysis. When I heard about the experiences, I got a new paranoid fear heh. I hear that not sleeping on your back helps prevent it so I never sleep on my back. A sleep paralysis experience would be a heavy blow to my mind right now. I hate that the only way to get rid of these things is to accept them.

I can't help but think that sometimes we dream about pain or feel pain, and it's a sign from our body that we need to see a doctor or do other healing things. It is sort of an early warning system.
