I'm a skinny little runt, yet I can do long jump farther than anyone else on the track team...so that proves that just cause I'm skinny, doesn't mean I'm not healthy...plus my girlfriend likes that I'm little, cause she's little, so tell 'em to piss off! :)

forget about what other people say and be yourself. the only thing is, if you do have an eating disorder such as bulemia or anorexia, you need to face it soon and get help. im not accusing you or anything, but one of my best friends lives with it daily and it kills her. if you think you might then you need to tell someone who can take care of you and get you help.

sorry to be weird but i dont like to see anyone suffer

    I am healthy!
I don't eat fast or junk food, I drink milk, eat two times per day, don't eat after 8pm and I feel good!

you really helped me thank you very very much!
Now, when someone says: oh!!! how thin you've become! - I think: look at your ass- and I don't feel uncomfortable anymore :)
    thank you! :)

_From the picture I would say you appear to be on the thin side, but I will agree with everyone that has said a picture can be misleading.

If you don't have an eating disorder -which people that are suffering from one never confess to anyways- then I would say perhaps it's just your metabolism, some people have fast metabolisms & burn the fat faster than others.

You can be thin & healthy & you can be chubby & healthy too, if you are healthy & feel comfortable with your size, then tell those rude people -they have to be rude to make comments like that- that you are healthy & feel wonderful the size you are.

Another thing that bugged me is that people said if you feel healthy then you are when in fact feeling healthy doesn't mean one is healthy, my uncle had a brain tumor & felt "healthy".

Oh & by the way you are around 5 feet 5 inches & 99 pounds.

i don't think weight matters in terms of aesthetics, as long as you are happy with your bod, other people can piss off.

but in terms of health, there is a healthy weight range - isn't the BMI (body mass index) one indicator of health?

(i think) you divide your weight in kg by your height in metres squared - the result is your bmi.

    anyway here's a link
    http://www.halls.md/body-mass-index/bmi.htm

that will do the maths for you, and also factor in age, gender etc...and then tell you if you are over, under or normal weight

but yeah, maybe you should try posting this question in the health forum too or talking to a doctor, just to check if your weight is healthy for your height -because, hey, health is maybe more important in the long run than aesthetics?

You are very thin, but if you're not doing anything harmful to yourself and you just have a fast metabolism, you're fine! And fuck anyone who says anything other than that.

you really need to eat more than twice a day. 6 small meals is best, and unless you are eating 2 HUGE meals i can't see how you are eating right.

As long as you are eating and feel healthy then there isnt anything to worry about. People bones sometimes stick out. Like my dad he has an enormous rib cage its kinda weird but its just how hes built. You may just have a extremely fast metabolism, either way as long as you feel healthy and are taking care of yourself it doesnt really matter. If it reeeally bothers you and you cant gain weight maybe you should go to a doctor to see what he/she says.

I don't eat HUGE meals.. I'm studying hard and I don't have time to eat more than two times. On the other I don't feel hungry till 6 o'clock, because I stand up at 11-12 o'clock and so my breakfast is like lunch :)

Dear Frozenboonbeam, thank you for the link. The result was "5th".

2 meals a day is fine in my opinion, as long as you're eating good when you eat them... you said yourself you don't eat junk, so I'm sure it's fine.

I never ate more than 2 meals a day, because I get sick if I eat too early in the day. I've never had any health problems because of "how many meals I eat"...
It's not about how many meals you eat, its about what you eat, and how many vitamins, nutrients, and calories you intake.

And, just like you, I could NEVER in a million years do six small meals... To me, that's insane. I usually do what you do, eat at noon and then another meal at 6ish. And, I've never been too thin from that "diet" ...If you're REALLY concerned, why don't you try writing down everything you eat, the caloric intake, the vitamins and nutrients you intake, etc... and calculate it out each day... If it comes up to a normal number of what you're supposed to get each day, I say do what works for you!

In the US they usually suggest around 2,000 calories a day, but that isnt so if you're short and/or have a tiny frame... Based on your age, your height, and your BMI you find an intake that's right for you. If I ate 2,000 calories a day, I can tell you right now I'd be overweight. I usually consume about 1,000 to 1,500. I also be sure to get everything I need, protein, calcium, vitamins, grains, veggies, fruit...etc.

No one person is the same, and should have identical diets. It all depends on your body, and your metabolism.

My boyfriend probably intakes 3,000 OR MORE calories a day and he's a twig... but then again he's about 6 foot 3...so see what I'm saying?

Forget what the guidlines are and either stick what you already do [assuming it works for you] or find something else that works for you. I wouldnt worry unless you go to the Dr. and they are seriously concerned. Maybe, get a blood test done and see where you're at.

ALSO, before I end this comment... I strongly believe that you eat only when you're hungry, and you eat until you feel adequately full. NOT stuffed, but full until you feel energized again. Food is fuel for your body, not a party for your mouth. A really helpful thing I've learned in therapy is to eat as soon as your stomach starts rumbling, and pace yourself. Chew slowly, take time in between bites... It takes a while for your mind and body to tell you it's full. That's why people often keep scarfing food down their throats and then all of a sudden they feel so full that they're going to throw up... you don't want that.

And, if you exercise [which everyone should] make sure you don't over do it. If you're strenuously exercising everyday for hours, of course that will make you extremely thin. Exercise is necessary, but don't go overboard. Your body will tell you when it's spent, and you have to listen to it. I've had friends that ate tons in a day, but exercised excessively and were extremely thin because of it.

Too much of ANYTHING is never good.

But, as I said before... If you don't have any problems, then that just must be your body's ideal weight. You usually can pretty much tell what weight you're meant to be at if it stays steady continuously. If you're constantly losing and gaining, then you might want to find a more suitable diet for yourself to balance you out.

    Hope that helped :)

sounds like something you should get checked out in my opinion. getting sick from eating breakfast isn't normal.... but im probably giving an opinion that isnt wanted eh?

    Ursela,

In my opinion you do not look like you are in best health. Not trying to be mean. I trust you don't have an eating disorder because you said you don't have one.

Thats good that you eat healthy, dont change that for sure. But you really do look very skinny to me.

Something to take into consideration is your age... since you are studying for exams that would lead me to believe that you have gone through puberty and your body should be finishing up that transformation - which would lead me to believe again that yes you look too skinny - from what i know of healthy bodies anyways.

NOW - before everyone starts hatin' on me - yes some people are naturally that skinny. What would concern me about your situation, though, is that people that you know in real life are surprised at your weight, which leads me to believe that you looked to be a healthier weight in the past.

You have to ask yourself, when did your weight change?

also, have you considered that you are studying too much? maybe it is taking away from eating healthier than you are. maybe it is taking away from getting out and exercising. i dont know. only you know that.

it is my opinion that you aren't going to die or need to be hospitalized (based on the assumption you are telling the truth about not having an eating disorder).

it is my opinion that you need to get more exercise to have a truly healthy and balanced body.

it is my opinion that you should be asking these questions and doing these things to honor your own body because it is your only vessel in this life, and not because anyone else thinks your too skinny.

do you have a physical education class where they do fitness testing? how do you score in the various area's there?

im not trying to be mean, but in the american number system thats about 5 feet 5 inches tall. but when i was 12 i was 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighed 105 pounds. 45kg. is only 99 pounds. so i would have to say that kinda gross!

    Dear yogi for peace,
um.. ok I was as thin as now when I was going on national dance lessons 6-7 years ago.. Then, when I left it, I became 53-54kgs.
My normal weight is 49 kgs. I had this weight for 2-3 years after I lost extra weight. But now I lost 4 kgs and I couldn't imagine that 4 kgs could be so "noticable".
When I opened this thread, I was not "staying strong" , but know I feel good and strong and people don't confuse me anymore..
You think I'm too skinny and even put my photo to prove it, but it's ok I think. I don't feel uncomfortable if someone thinks I'm too skinny. When I look at myself in the mirror, I don't think I'm unusual thin, I like it.
I don't look like that girl in Aguilera's "You Are Beautiful", who brokes the mirror in the end :) I don't see my bones behind my skin.

By the way.. do you know that this song is written by the vocal of "4 Non Blondes".. haha I was wondering why does this song sound good before I heard it :)

So, thank you once again for your posts! Most of you helped me very much :)

don't worry about other peoples' opinions and weird math indices -- as long as you are eating fine (i.e. no lo-carb obsessions or the like) you are fine.

yup...four kilo's is a lot...doesn't sound much when you say it hey but go and pick up four kilo bags of flour and think about the fact that you don't carry that anymore...I was glad to lose five kilo's but I weighed seventy five kilo's at 174 cm after having my baby...before my baby I weighed 56 to 64 kilo's at various times in my life. Same thing as you, when I was at my thinnest people used to spin out at me...I think now when I look at pics of myself then I understand why, I looked so thin and fragile, I wasn't fragile, ate like a pig, smoked myself silly (I think you pro pot puts on weight guys might not have heard of the speeds up metabolism theory) and generally ran around having fun...it used to stress me out when people would question me about my weight as I just didn't bother about it at all. It has not been until I had to do some serious gym mileage to get rid of a jelly belly that I understood just how thin I was before...I don't think you look too thin to me but I do think that you could afford to put some weight on and it wouldn't make you even close to fat!

    :)
