A couple questions... Dreads

I just love the look of dreads, on girls and guys.. it is so sexy.
I have some questions about them...
Are they clean? How easy are they to wash? Any shampoo preference..??

Is it true that once you get dreads, you have to shave your head to get rid of them??

Is it hard to get your hair dyed with dreads?? is it even possible?

I was thinking of using store bought wax to make a natural dead, that isnt permanent.... sorry if I come off as Ignorant... :&

Any tips??

Earthy Mama...

1: Dreadlocks are NOT dirty… Dreadlocks can be washed just like regular hair can.

2 : Having dreadlocks does not mean your hair is now ruined and will necessarily have to stay this way permantley unless you shave your head. If you use conditioner they will come out.

3 : If your parents want to do a trial and error (in which time you can convince them) you will have a couple months before they really start locking up hard.
4 : They can be done big or small and can be kept very well groomed if they'd rather see it that way, you don't HAVE to establish them by never combing it again and letting it go wild.

and as for wax;

It hinders the dreading process. The dreads need to be able to move, the hairs have to naturally move about to lock to eatch other, knott up. Wax gumps them all together preventing this and just sticking the hair down giving the impression of dreads. In the long run the wax builds up and will go mouldy.

Yeah that’s what wax dose.. makes one's locks look "perfect".. but why do we have to have perfect looking lock's right away.. every one wants to rush and just have em like BAM! but time is the key anyone will get better results in the end. if person does not use the wax...
It also slow's down the dread process.. its just gooping your hair together
plus one would not have noticed that nasty stuff inside the locks unless you cut your lock in half like that guy did.. other then that it makes your locks look just beautiful on the out side.... but i hope some one would have there locks just for the fashion look...

Some people accuses me of it.. some say because i back combed and im young in high school i do it just for the image, those people are all generally younger(17-21).... trust me i get a LOT of disrespect and put up with a lot from .. teachers.. business type people and elderly people too.. random comments walking down the street. enough comments that if i did it just for the look id cut them out because i would be sick of the bullshit and discrimination….

But trust me it is sheer delight to have the locks, watch them grow and change, worry free and you can decorate them, plus when I go traveling at the end of this year its will be very convenient for me. Though I am not religious in any kind of way.. my hair has been with me in the last few months on a very spiritual journey I’m currently on.. and defiantly a huge changing/learning point in my life…

Okay so now that I have rambled on and told my life story ill get back to my point… Wax is a fashion style product… (not to say if your going to get a job soon and wants dreads like !BAM! to look presentable) then its all okay.. its really a personal matter.
