why does the U.S. have to be the "hero" for stuff like this. If the Iraqis dont want us there, then what right do we have to be there. It's like if i come to stay at your house and refuse to leave, and when you try and make me leave i just kill your loved ones and call it self defense. I think that anyone who volunters to join a war, is out of their mind. Who would want to go and kill innocent people. Sure the Army will pay for college, but i would rather be poor and knowing that i never shot an uncle, aunt, father, son, brother than be have a career and having that guilt on me.

    just waht i think

Well that's the thing. We've been seeing these armchair cheerleaders for the war for quite some time now who inevitably balk with a slew of excuses as to why they aren't out on the battlfefield as opposed to sitting in the comfortable surroundings of their own home. It's rah rah, let the other guy die for me, let them be the ones to go and leave behind loved ones, let them be the one to pay the price. They claim to be in support of the troops yet when stop-loss policies were initiated you didn't see them lining up to go help them out with some relief, no they stayed put and are more than happy to come up with even more spineless gibberish when it comes to the question of why they aren't there with the troops as one of the troops.

Islam will destroy America the same way it destroyed the Soviet Union. Lure the empire into backwater (crap)-holes like Afghanistan, Iran etc. and then trap them there, bleeding them dry.

Well IG, with an actual militant political agenda being the impetus for our invasions of those "backwaters", it can't be argued that we were "lured" nor can our role be presented so passively.

The ones leading us to our downfall are those for whom this "war that will not end in our lifetimes" is reaping unprecedented financial winfalls and tyrannical concentration of power. Islamics are just the new fashionable boogeymen since the era of the vast "communist" menace has passed.

With the unquestioning public such as it is, though, it's a fashion that will keep the corrupt gravytrain going for a good while yet.

Id' be nice if we could just pull out, but that would leave a very big vacuum in the middle east at the moment and who knows what type of leader would take over. THe war was a mistake and was not planned well at all. But I don't think Bush intentionally would start the war based on faulty intelligence, because there are no reasons for it.
