I know this happens in almost every state in the country, but this is the case i chose to speak out on. In July of 1988 a 12 year old girl was kidnapped ahd raped. She was spending the day babysitting a couple of kids & minding her own business. A young man named Dennis Dechaine happened to be in the woods near where this happened in Northern Manie. Dennis was admittedly in the woods using drugs. When he came out of the woods he could not find his truck. An elderly couple helped him some & then he ended up talking with police. Later that night the young girls body was found and Dennis was charged witht his horrible crime. He has claimed his innocence since day 1. It has since been proven that cops lied on the stand, prosecuters hid & destroyed evidence & DNA (which Dennis asked for & was denied back in 88) has shown that the DNA under the girls nails belonged to a male - NOT dennis Dechaine. There is MUCH MUCH more to this story & it can all be viewed at www.trialanderrordennis.org . You can also sign our petition to get Dennis a new trial, a trial in which ALL evidence is shown to the jury, on line. It does not matter if you live in Maine, the United States or whereever, we are welcoming all people to sign the petition to get a fair trial for Dennis. That is all Dennis and our organization are asking for- A NEW TRIAL... What we don't understand is why the state of Maine does not want to do this.... ARE THEY AFRAID TO ADMIT THEY WERE WRONG ??? ARE THEY AFRAID TO OPENLY ADMIT THEY HAVE HAD THE WRONG MAN IN PRISON FOR NEARLY 17 YEARS???
Slutter, I thank you for your opinion. However, if you had actually visited the site as requested, you'd realize that i gave only a very brief summation. I didn't include how when trial transcripts were finally made public - after a long court battle to have them ALL released - it was proven that the lead detective LIED on the stand, forged his notes, and FAILED to follow up on 2 leads of SEX OFFENDERS living in the immediate area. On particular offender, on trial again at that time, had 2 sets of bare footprints leading to his trailer door. The little girl that was murdered was known to be barefoot. The lead detective NEVER even knocked on that door. Please, visit the site, it goes in depth & you can also find out about getting the book "Human Sacrifice" by Ret. ATF Agent Jim Moore. I believe Barnes & Noble carries it. Mr. Moore states that if he were on the jury in 1988, he too would have found Dennis guilty, but now that ALL EVIDENCE is being brought to light, there is way to much reasonable doubt & hard evidence to find him guilty. Thank you all for reading this post and becoming aware, what you do next is your choice. Please make it a good one. Choose to help give an innocent man back his freedom.
