i got arrested before for pot and this girl i know whose dad is a cop always gets caught with pot but she never gets in trouble for it..

Oh, so there's NO RELATION to your family having cops in it, and cops actually being helpful to you. Sure. And I have oceanfront property in Nevada.

Let me explain something to you.

The amount of help you get from the police is directly proportional to several factors:

1) How many family members you have in the force
2) What area code/neighbourhood/amount of money you have (e.g. do you know the Chief of Police or Mayor)
3) Your level of affluence
4) Your skin color and orientation.

So let's see: let's take a hypothetical case - police are called cause a guy's beating up his spouse.

If the guy was a cop - they'd help him.
If the guy was white, affluent, in the right area code - they'd tell him to cool it off and/or take him away but fail to charge him for "lack of evidence"
Poor white guy - on go the cuffs, in the back of the car
Black guy - violent assault, entire family handcuffed, house searched for drugs, etc. etc. etc.

And you would know this from discussions with cop friends/family around the table?

"Wow! I wonder why cops are so friendly and helpful, Uncle Constable!"

In Canada a month ago, it was priceless. Some rich white kid goes to university, and stays in a student apartment - and comes home one day to find he's been broken into and robbed. So he calls the cops, who come by and see Goodwill furniture etc. and immediately arrest him for attempting some kind of fraud where he robs himself.

One call to daddy - "All this was a total misunderstanding..."

Thats not really the norm though...I was talking to several black guys in LA and each one got pulled over on an average of once a week for nothing.

Racial profiling does exist among policemen, many will tell you it does.

In fact, i saw an interview with the black actor Don Cheedle, I think thats his name, anyway he was recently harassed and cuffed by cops while simply walking down the street, until one recognized him as a movie star.

sorry to here about your situation. I hope things get better real soon for you and that your ankle feels better. I spose it wouldnt be that easy to pull up a chair next to your computer or wherever you are sitting to elevate your foot while typing? Keep an ice pack on it as well.

and as for the cops. they have their limits of the things they can do. after all, all they do is arrest you, take a report, pictures and interview potential witnesses, the District Attorney is the one who decides if charges are filed or not.

as much as i hate to agree with a certain pain in the ass ( michael) i have heard that cops REALLY hate child abusers.

Im friends with a girl who here mom is a prostitute and charges her 145 dollars a month for drugs and makes meth in the house with her son and is addicting to all drugs and her grandparents are insane and her dad is a rapist/child molester
