if were gonna run out of oil, which of course we must, then why are the car companies lashing out the latest model cars even cheaper than last year?coz they know better than anyone, and theyve gotta sell cars. now, most of the weight in a car is in the engine, and since it wont be easy to convert any given car to solar or H2O energy, perhaps the best thing would be to remove the engine, attach a pair of bars, cart style,to be horse drawn, old styly? the beauty is ,it could still have a battery to charge the radio etc,its completely wind and weatherproof, and it would be extremely difficult to knock someone down from overspeeding and/or drunkeness, plus all the road networks are already there, making it a perfect private transport system. is anyone alive out there?
i know...its a much better way without the animal explotation and no excessive pollution....we already would have huge roads big enough for it........u prolly wouldnt go HUGE distances with it but it just might work.... WALK!..........................or bike
Actually, there's evidence that oil is NOT millions-old ponds of animal decay but the product of bacteria living near the earth's core.
^ i hope that's sarcasm... anyways, it could work. We won't be out of oil soon, but it is going to get (prohibitively) expensive after the production peak. Whatever method we end up using, it is nice that we have all these very nice roads in place. If we go with lighter vehicles, maybe they won't wear out so fast either.
It is my firm and sincere belief that we should be using them NOW. I know its probably the most unpopular view in the world, but i hate cars. I just hate them. If we stopped usin em theyd have to make public transport better, so we could use that. And as someone rightly said-why not get on your bikes...or walk...and get rid of obesity.:| But i do like the horse idea. Itd make the world actually look attractive again, not a mass of grey with huge hunks of metal all over it. And itd be fun! love-Maxi.Xx
1. not weight practicle 2. YOU CAN CONVERT IT TO ETHANOL! 3. sure lets kill some animals instead of fermenting corn, god knows that hurting them will make us feel better 4. PROPANE WORKS TOO! 5. I really do think you are the most impractical ridiculously and absurdly thought absent person on this earth 6. horse drawn cars is a stupid fucking idea.....
first guy, and impracticality is folly practicality is "rated well" because it works, it is effecient, it is streamlined. ironically enough the only way to live in a dream world is through grounded practicality unfortunatly people think practicality is over rated and so imelda marcos screws over the working people filling warehouses with shoes.......
I think it's an ok idea but why use the cars.. we should trade in the cars for something more practical.. not sure what. but for single people or small families why not just get a horse? learn to horseback ride
Cars weigh a minimum of 2,000 pounds, most 2,500 or 3,000. lot a weight for a horse to pull, you'd need a team. (a horse is about 1 horsepower) a car ranges from about 100 to 300 horsepower. Horses require tremendous upkeep. You don't just hitch up a horse and go. You need food, shelter, grooming, and a vet. Horses leave horseshit, one of the main pollutants in early cities. The battery in a car is charged by the engine. Propane is made out of oil. We already recycle cars. How do we maintain this road system? We use trucks and tractors now. Mass transit is the way to go and small go-cart type vehicles or motorcycles.
Horse shit could easily be cleaned today with the disinfectants and things we have. People could be employed to hose it away, and it wouldnt be any threat to us. Certainly natural horse shit is a lot less of a threat than very unnatural gases and chemicals. The world is infact meant to have this kind of thing-it makes plants grow as opposed to making the amount of concrete roads grow. Sorry-i just hate cars a lot! Perhaps if the horse isnt seen to be practical enough then bikes or trains or your own two feet. Love-Maxi.Xx
Yeah, I used to think about horse drawn cars, I think I saw it some fiction movie, it was based in the australian outback and these guys had a full halftrack drawn by two clydesdales. Right now you can power a bicycle off of a small solar cell and get up to 35mph. It's not nearly as fast as a ferrari but certainly faster than horses, cleaner and less maintenance too. If it's dark out you can always pedal as well When it gets to horsedrawn cars we probably wouldn't be travelling long distances for transport anymore anyway, smaller self reliant communities and all.
It's just a damn shame that all the money we have poured into the automobile industry (an unimaginable amount) and all it's support systems wasn't diverted long, long ago to make a viable mass transit system for all of the country(ies).
