I thought I'd raise awareness of the practice of sending kids to institutions, just for being kids or the like. While it's an especially acute problem for gay kids, ANYONE who's under 18 can be institutionalized for any reason, with no oversight whatsoever! I hate to tell ya, but they don't kick you out, they just take away what few rights you have left! It's like trying to get "kicked out" of prison. I know since I was institutionalized as a kid, though I never had any trouble with the law at all, and I didn't even "come out" until afterwards. The only way to get kicked out of something like this, is to do something that WILL land you in prison! While running away is difficult since you're watched 24/7, and life on the streets can be ugly (even more so since you will have a bounty on your head), this may be the only even remotely realistic option for getting out of something like that. Remember, these places have ONE job, and that's to turn you into a fucking robot. You think they haven't worked out the "getting kicked out by acting up" angle??? And don't forget, they can even feed you drugs like Thorazine, they retain kickback shrinks to handle the Rx. (Yes, they can shoot it into your ass if you refuse to take it by liquid, or ANY TIME you act up.) Like I said elsewhere, this is LEGALIZED CHILD ABUSE!
If anything, it's gotten worse. Read the link that I posted at the top. Otherwise, if you want to go into denial, that's your problem, but there's definitely shit happening out there. Oh wait, you're in Vancouver, would that be Canada by any chance? This is a big problem in America, I can't say what Canada does since it's somewhat less crazy.
children have no rights anyway, the supreme court made that ruling, that's not going to change, guerilla tactics and survival of the fittest and the strongest of will are the only ways to make it past that particular adversary in this brave new world
creepy.... small world.... so you get the whole crazy militant attitude towards authority... you go to the rodeo?
would any of you want to help start some sort of online fund to raise money for a billboard sign, particularly in TN, that has something along the lines of "end 'ex-gay' programs. see the evil thats anti-god (or something like that) <and make a reference to Love In Action.>" i dunno, just a thought
Hey, I grew up in the 60s, and I did live in SanFran for a while until it got too expensive... BTW, I'm more into Artown than the rodeo
he'll be on gma in a week, he won't end up going, get a bill board he's guaranteed to be on nat'l news
Good luck finding a billboard company that would carry anything like that. Best chance is to get CNN or somebody to do an investigative report.
its already been featured on CNN i just wish i could do something im trying to think of things. maybe if we all went around with bumper stickers or something?? I dont know ugh just something to make people aware that these places exist.
I've found that nevadans tend to not be fans of authority, that may get washed away though, all this fastest growing state nonsense...... been here since birth.... edit: artown pwns, only ever go to the rodeo for the rides, art town and Hot august Nights are my real things....
Hadn't heard CNN did something with it, but thanx for the tip. Otherwise, real activism is usually a matter of persistence as much as anything. And yes I do get militant sometimes, but I've also been around a while. Blowing up things will only make us look like terrorists, and we don't need that.
im thinking i should go through the phone book, and send out letters edit: ya know, with the help of some local people :cough: mark, kirk :cough: and other floridians
