I've been there last year, and it didn't really live up to my expectations... it's quite an expensive festival, so be sure to bring food with you, otherwise you'll probably spend just as much money on food as you did on your ticket... well I can't say anything about the music, as you probably know all about it and have your own taste in it... Oh yeah, I expected Lowlands to have a kind of 'hippie' atmosphere, but as it's such a big festival there's not really an 'atmosphere'... at least that's what I experienced last year... just go out and look for nice people, you'll definitely find them, as there are a lot.

I've been there 7 times already.. Missed it 2 times, including last year.. But this year, I'm going again.. In the early days it was much more fun, a lot smaller and a nicer vibe.. It's getting way to big and that's a shame.. And indeed it's expensive.. I always went because it was kind of a tradition and it was always fun no matter what bands were playing, but now I'm only going because of the great line up..
I like lowlands cause of the variety of people, a lot of festivals have one genre of music, but lowlands has them all.. You can skank in the pit at daytime and dance to some great dj's at night..
    You'll have a great time..

Still wondering if I should go or not.. my bf is probably going but the last time I went to a festival (Werchter) I felt so fucking unsafe in my tent at night (apperantly with reason, because the year after I went a guy had his throat slit at that festival). So.. I dunno. Plus I don't really like crowds.. I like sitting in the grass and watching people though.. but is that worth all that money? Still thinking 'bout it...

As bad as it is to have one's throat slit, how many situations were there at the festival and how many people were present? I think every festival has it's bad elements, but usually the good tend to outweigh the bad. Velvet, you should check it out and tell me how it is. I might consider it next year as I'm curious to check out a few festivals in Europe. Actually, if you go with a few people, there shouldn't be a prob.

As for prices, that always bites! But I like to sell a few goods at festivals, so I break even half the time.

If you want to see a kick ass festival with everything for everyone,
go to UK Glastonbury festival, biggest one in Europe. Surely all you
mainland Europeans get it screened on TV.

Lowlands is safe, never had anything bad happen there.. just the occasional someone peeing on your tent thing.. And you know how much I hate crowds, but when you have enough you just go chill by your tent.. You should go, then we can hang together :)

I agree, Glasto is amazing. I went there once, and it seriously blows Lowlands out of the water. That's something, since Lowlands is - in my book - the best the Netherlands has to offer in terms of festivals.

Anyway - I'll be going for the fifth time this year and I can't wait. The line-up is beefy, and more will follow. Anyone considering going to Pukkelpop in Belgium instead of Lowlands? From what I've heard the atmosphere is more laid-back, and it also has a line-up to die for...

good to be back here. it's been a while.

I'm inclined to agree with Mike, Lowlands really is the best The Netherlands has to offer nowadays. Especially this year, considering the line-up. Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters, Franz Ferdinand, eo. I also heard a rumor that Rammstein was going to be there, although they're not on the official list. So I guess it's just that: a rumor. It's still going to be great, though. :D

Yep, Glastonbury is one hell of a festival, although ticket
price would shock some people. I only live about 40 miles
away from the mystical lands of Avalon. I love Glastonbury,
especially the view from the Tor, fantastic place to have
a smoke with friends up there, I think.

It is a good place to do a joint, Nemisis. I walked the ancient labryinth that's carved in the Tor and did a doob after. It was really nice.

    yeh, slowhand, I agree.
There is something strangely magical and harmonious about the
whole place, imo, Glastonbury Tor as well as Glastonbury town.
And for those of you who don't know, rumour has it the legendary
King Arthur is buried there and it's full of mysticism and spirtituality.
The town is so laid back with loads of shops selling healing crystals,
incense, dragons, swords, wizardry, witches, sorcery, Shamanism,
Wicca, Tarot, Witchcraft, new-age stuff and all sorts of cult esoteric
beliefs. I've been up the Tor many times and the view is breathtaking,
about time I made another pilgrimage there I think. LOL, great stuff:)
