1. what is the max amount of marijuana allowed to buy You are allowed to buy 5 grams in one go and your not supposed to have any more than 30 grams on you at any given time! 2. In most of the shops do you have to go to the bar and ask for the menu, talk the waitress or seek out the guy in the back corner. There is usually a dealers counter but if your not sure just ask the waitress 3. for the first day ill prbly take tobbacco with the jays so what tobbaco is reccommened for taste. 4. Is it easy to purchase material such as rolling papers and roach or do you need to come prepared. All the coffeeshops have rolling papers, roaches and most have bongs/vapourisers you can use 5. Is it legal to smoke while outside in the city centre and park, or is it frowned upon. I dont think its illegal to smoke in the city centre but I can guarentee a Police Officer would ask you to keep your smoking to coffeeshops, although a lot of people head to Vondelpark for a outside smoke 6. what about in regular bars, clubs and hotels Therte are some clubs and bars you can smoke in off hand I cant remember any specific names! 7. reccomend one coffeeshop and one type of weed. Hard to recommend just one but I'd go for Amnesia and try their MK Ultra(Indica - stony as f**k!)

Most sell at the bar, but some have a special corner for selling weed (like rokerij near de munt) 3. for the first day ill prbly take tobbacco with the jays so what tobbaco is reccommened for taste. well... this is a personal thing, but since you asked my reccommendation, I'd say marlboro lights, or even something 'worse' than that. It's strange, I love the taste of cigarettes and prefer to smoke shag, but in a joint it just spoils the taste of the weed and I prefer very crappy tobacco. I usually use gauloises, though, because it's nice to smoke and nice to put in a joint. 4. Just smoke where you want, but if a cop comes up to you and tells you to stop smoking, just do it. 6. what about in regular bars, clubs and hotels depends. Dampkring, Ocean's Twelve Haze... for a more economical smoke (in that it's nice and not so expensive) I'd have to say white widow in any shop or super skunk in any shop (which is usually quite cheap, but not really quality stuff.) While I was in A-Dam I went to a place called the Grasshopper. Now, they have great ganj, but it's a more upscale place so if ya in it for the jane you can find it just as good other places for cheaper. When You walk through their front door there were a stairs going up, and stairs going down. The downstairs was the pot bar. They didn't allow any alcohol in the pot bar, but had a steady supply of doughnuts, candy, munchies, gatorade etc. But when you got down there there was a booth with a guy sitting in it, which looked similar to a cashiers booth. To the right of it was a black window with a HUGE Red button below it. I mean a big red button. U know the kind that you see it and automatically know you have to press it. When you do the black window lights up and shows the menu list and all the prices. You then just tell the guy behind cashiers booth what ya want. I'm sure it's different buying in every coffeshop in the town, but they'll probably all be as simple to navigate.
Good answers above but I might caution you on choice of weeds. I'm just guessing but I think you're not an everyday smoker of high quality weed. The strains mentioned by the previous posters are some of the strongest available in Amsterdam, Two hits by an unexperienced smoker could have you passing out, pukeing, or paranoid. If I'm on the right track, you might explain you're experience to the dealer who can reccommend a weed more appropriate for a first time Amsterdam stone. Also I hope your 18th birthday is before your arrival as coffeeshops risk losing their license for serving underage customers and are strict in asking for ID from young looking patrons.
Best I ever had was this stuff I bought in Harlem called Harlem Magic Bud. It looked more crystally and shiny than all the rest and a couple of J's of this was just too sweet. Tried lots all over the 'Dam, but that was it for me! Caught the train back to 'Dam and found myself grinning all over and couldn't stop.
