Anyone think it is practical to carve wooden bowls, I was thinking of following a guide to making a wooden spoon, and then drilling out the handle!
A carved spoon is typicaly shallow with a wide opening. A pipe bowl is more like a cilyndar (sp.). If the bowl is a wide cone (like a spoon) the herb on the top at the outer rim gets bypassed. When I make pipes, I use a Forsner bit. 5/8" to 1" is about the right diameter. Just my thoughts, give the other way a try and report back, please.
someone on this forums made a hobby out of h\wood carving or something. i dont remember who though... anyway he carved a wooden pipe. using a cooking spoon though.. no go
I meant the general idea of making a cooking spoon, with a hallow handle(Yes the bowl would need some adjustments.)
i carve many wood pipes...it is one of my fav hobbies. i started making em before i even started smoking it takes alotta work if you want em to look good and work good...but its fun i find i concentrate better on the workmanship if im high while carving em'...but thats just me
somthing soft enough to carve and somthing that doesnt burn easy. i dont know exact types of wood...i always use oak or maple or somthing. but dont use treated wood or anything that you get from a store. i would bet that natural untreated wood is safer to smoke from
you.. WOOD guarantee it? harharhar anywya um yeh it was willy who made the pipes, i wasnt sure so i didnt want to get it wrong the first time
