Ok I hear of really cool places that people go to e.g. communes anywhere else right? Are they always psycho, do they always turn into a cult, is there actually such thing as a haven for people to go to? Has anyone ever wanted to create a haven that is free from all that junk? I'm not into permanent communal living, I just want to know if anyone has ever gone out for six months and actually have something work? From what I have heard almost every commune has a underlying plot to it. Some nefartious super mad man, who is out to control people and make money for them. Is there really any peacefull places one can go and just live.
aint never heard of us then have ya .. we aint a commune , just a haven of sorts and a place for folks to get things together etc etc,,,, as far as length of stays we say 60 days but have had folks for longer,,, much longer when things are right n we all get along and folks understand what we really are doing isnt just for us ,, tis for everyone
i'm just saying because once i get out of this army and away from this war i'm going to WANT to be travelling and I'm going to WANT to make friends along the way. And i just don't want to get hurt by people or have my junk stolen, i know rules about stuff, but you know it happens, karma happens, bad people happen. Can just hope for the best i geuss. Keep your karma in line.
Static: you're in Iraq? Just writing to let you know we're thinking of you over here. Be careful out there and keep your sanity! I can only imagine what it must be like.
i'm not in iraq right now but i got back around seven months ago and i'm suppose to go back in september i think. it's really fucking my mind up thinking i'm going to end up in the worst place in the world again.
hey, just become a quaker then you can get a religous exemption and if you act real sick you can probably get discharged from the army and they practice silent worship so you dont get preached at excessively. and they are great. i would do it if i cared about religion. the army is a rip off. they pay for college but its totally not worth it when you could just get a job working construction or get a job in a hospital or something and be done with it. to many people get suckered in by free education and the reserves.
I know of one place that is commune-ish that isn't run by a crazy cult. You pay rent ($400-ish) and you get to live in a natural, hobbit-like house in the mountains about a twenty minute drive from a city of about 25,000 people. There are about eight or so houses on the property, and they are all pretty beautiful and share facilities like a sauna, hot tub, pond, etc. It's located near Seattle, WA. The owner is an old hippie who builds his own houses out of natural materials. (Timber, stone, clay, mud, etc.) There are some annoyances, like idiot renters who let their dogs run everywhere, but it's definitely not a cult. So not every commune like situation is bad. You should be careful, though, as I have heard of a lot of them that do in fact turn out to be awful.
I was wondering the same thing....Since i was around 16, i've wondered if such a place exists. As i grew older, i came to know about communes and such. I'm still pretty interested in the whole deal but want to know much more about it. How bout communes in other countries? Do they exist? Do they work? Any in India or Thailand?
