i dunno about the whole "its just a damn shame that in world so far progressed we still must fear going to other countries" thing..... not criticizing you, just thinking. if the alternative is..... a Universal Law (ie every country follows the same code of law, therefore whereever you go, you don't have to worry about differences). that seems even more scary than the possibility of getting into trouble for something that you wouldn't be in trouble for in your Homeland. think about it..... No differences between countries, everybody's under the same brainwashed view of Right and Wrong; nobody to compare our beliefs with! at least in this situation, we can look at indonesia and consider that many people not living in [eg australia] consider drug smuggling to be SUCH a horrible crime to be subject to the death penalty! and think on that different view. i dunno.... it seems like both sides of the equation are dangerous.
i think everyone here is overlooking something very important. Whether it's right or wrong that she got 20 years when the bali bomber guy got like 3 years isnt the the real travesty. SHE DIDNT GET A FAIR TRIAL. That's the REAL problem. Her rights were violated.
So, do you think its 'fair' or 'right' that he only got 3 years for well, murder? Just curious about your opinion on this.
nope, i don't think its fair that he got 3 years..for conspiracy i think it was. I respect a country's right to have stiff punishment(reasonably of course). However, she was not provided with a fair trial, and i think thats the real problem.
i didnt read this whole thread so sorry if im repeating anything. they have their rules, everyone knows the penalty is death. only a fool would do it and i dont feel sorry for anyone who gets caught. who's to know if she did it or not. it pisses me off how everyone here is so outraged that she got 20 years, sure it sucks but shes lucky she has her life. she shouldnt get special treatment coz shes aussie. the laws are there for a reason. i have my doubts about her innocence though. if the laws arent the same for everyone then there's no point in having them in the first place.
but i wonder if you would be saying that if u walked a mile in her shoes....No! You would be outraged! You would be snooty-the-cat.....hahahaha!
lol no i wouldnt really. i've done bad things before and had to suffer the consequences and I never start with the "why me". you can't blame anyone but yourself.
No i feel like falling further into a zombie trance ...i am about to rebel against the system. fuck it my brain is exploding. my life is decay at the moment...cant wait till sunday
schappelle corby is my dealer and you cant prove otherwise ... i thought that sticker was witty i tried to rip it off a shop window but it wouldnt come off...
chapelle had no undeniable proof that she was innocent. not much substantial proof at all. her dad has a criminal record concerning drugs, as does on of her siblings. in indonesia, the cannabis trade is not to indonesians. its also not by indonesians. tourists buy weed at regular prices, and from white people. the locals can be shift with that sorta thing. corby had her life given back to her by the media. she should be greatful. whos to say innocent until proven guilty is more just than guilty till proven innocent? and its not like they just said 'your guilty, now prove your innocent'. its like 'you have 5 kilos of weed in your bag, unless you can prove its not yours, your guilty'. if it was under our system, and it was an indonesian man with irrational and rude family/cohort, they most probably would have been punished to the full extent of our law. drug penalties have always been more than conspiracy (cept maybe during war). she was rude to their court, her family was rude to their court, she effectively insulted their judges. and on top of it all, my friends friend also used to get drugs from chapelle!
Stonerbill wrote Hahaha the ol my friends friends joke eh, not paying you out but it does sound funny man you gotta admit
She sacked her Indonesian legal team, then hired some non lawyer but academic, then apparently changed again? Her mother is a bit on the interesting side as well.
and now wants her legal team back... its unfair and stupid but hey theres more unfairness and stupidity in the world i guess.
She doesn't seem to be the smartest tool in the shed and i don't think her ans her family are being advised well at all. It seems to random and messy, unfortunetely for her.
