i live in an apartment and i have about twenty plants all over the place. over the past few summer months, i have been pestered by little flies, they look like fruit flies but i'm convinced that their not because i don't have any fruit sitting out, and if i do, its only one or two apples or pears in my kitchen. i'm finding these flies everywhere, from the bathroom to the living rooms and my bedroom. but i only find them one at a time and i would say i find five to ten a night. i was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on where they could be coming from or any ideas on how i can get rid of them. thanks so much!

Greenpeace had a neat idea on their site on how to get rid of them.

Fruit Flies: Pour a small amount of beer into a wide-mouth jar. Put a plastic bag across the mouth of the jar with a rubber band. Poke a small hole in the bag. Flies will enter through the hole and not be able to find their way out again. Change the beer when necessary.
