I have a vacation to the okanagan valley planned in august, and the highlight of the trip is going to be sleeping on the beach of some of the awesome lakes.

Only problem is that I'm not sure what the mounties will have to say about that.

Am I going to get busted for vagrancy if i try this?

I think it depends on which beaches you try to sleep on. For example, if you try to sleep on a fairly busy public beach? Yeah... the fish cops or the RCMP's might make you move. I doubt they would actually go as far as ticketing you.

But, if you are at a pretty secluded beach, as long as you don't draw too much attention to yourself, you could probably sleep there without being forced to move.

Well it has been years since I did that but I used to live in Creston and we used to go to the smaller beaches and do that a lot as long as your not disturbing others and acting cool they are pretty well ok with it on the smaller ones but they boot your ass off the bigger ones.

first of all, vagrancy isn't a crime in canada.

secondly, mounties don't just go around on horses in the wilderness anymore. they're just regular cops.

third, just thought i'd mention that i really hate wyoming.

    hehehe...ya..the polar bears ~wink wink~

but no, and i think the best advice for planning on camping on the beach, is to wait to set up your tent until it is dark, and try to get up with the sun and take down.
there are many places to camp in the okanagan for free, but it takes a good eye to make sure you arent a heat bag. find the little lakes, and you will be suprised where a little drive can take you

enjoy the okanagan, and eat the peaches!!!

I'd like to add that I hate wyoming too

I know mounties traded in their horses for car

but i wasn't aware that vagrancy isn't a crime in Canada, that's another thing to add to the long list of great things that leads me to believe I'm moving there
